I am 65 years old and when I was a young man I use to race go carts with 5hp Briggs and Stratton engines and nobody could explain how all this works together ( until now ), so never let anyone tell you that you're to old to learn anything, thank you for taking the time to explain this so I could understand it, now when I'm mowing my grass and the governor opens the throttle a little now I know whybrTHANK YOU , THANK YOU , THANK YOU!!! brHi, Had a bad misfire, replaced carburettor Engine now revs very high Took engine out replaced with a new governor, did not look damaged at all Adjusted governor to carb as per instructions

Be careful what you buy as engines that have an oil pump do last longer as Toro used to one of them Slinging oil onto the piston, rings, cylinder and connecting rod is a poor attempt to lubricate parts that are abused during normal use Very few will tell you that residential mowers and others have a 150 hour expected life Commercial mowers are designed to have 5,000 hours of life, before service or replacement of a part are required So, check oil before every use Buy a suction gun as dipstick tubes are large enough to pull the old oil out and replace with fresh new brASE Master Tech since 78, retired Comment from : Dean Kay |

found this very interesting , so one question , working on a 4 hp tecumseh snow king horizontal shaft engine , how do I set my governor do I set it with the throttle in closed position, with the control rod against the governor inside plate , which way should the governor shaft be positioned to do this clockwise or counterclockwise Comment from : Garry |
