I find using coco coir instead of soil and controlling the nutrient intake of the plant myself works the best and you won't get burnt tips because you would just adjust the nutrientsbrbrWith coco coir you won't have any bugs or things you don't want in therebrbrAlso, I find every once and a while throwing a little plain epsom salt into the water helps them a whole lot and provides stress relief Comment from : Eric Charles |
Mine is a magnet for thrips, for better or worse They always show up first on Triostar, so I can detect them early and save, uh, most of the rest of the plants It bounces back easily too Comment from : Similis |

One thing I’ve noticed is that they love to be repotted… they immediately start getting bigger…😎 Comment from : Stephen Langton |
Some people say that it requires filtered water, and some people just use tap water and it looks beautiful… What do you think?… I’ve been using tap and so far it looks OK… But it’s still relatively small… A friend of mine who has a huge one uses only tap Comment from : Stephen Langton |

Would it be ok if I had tap water that I’ve let sit for about 24 hours I have about 126 plants so using filtered water would be expensive for me Comment from : Beverley Wheeler |

Hi! I'm from Rio de Janeiro, and I have a Triostar for a few months now Love your video! 🥰 Something I think is important to point out, is that it's a tropical forest plant In nature, it lives underneath bigger plants, closer to the ground, so it's natural state is really out of the direct sun and the soil is very rich in organic material, and also it loves humidity (just think Amazon forest) and also it gets drops of rain after all the other taller plants got 'em Thanks for the video! Comment from : Maria Claudia Pompeo |
Cute woman,if I keep it in a very bright place but without sun, will it grow?😘😘 Comment from : navdeep singh |
Thanks you did great My trio star is taco-ing but I'll get her under control Question: if I had an all white leaf, does that make my plant special? 🤔 Comment from : Tamara Bryant |

I got one a few months ago, repotted with a well draining soil, and put it outside on my covered patio For humidity I use a deep plastic saucer from Lowe's with river rocks The rocks fill the saucer so the plant is suspended above the water and as the water evaporates it creates humidity around the plant I water it maybe once or twice a week and when I water it refills the saucer Mine hase grown huuuuuge and constantly has 3-7 new leaves coming in Definitely tied for my favorite plant in my collection and probably the easiest one to care for! Comment from : RocketKira |
What if I have browning mid leaf Comment from : Skyler Arvidson |
If you only use distilled water on calatheas, you won't get browning Comment from : Abby |

I really love this plant and I am planning to get one However, before I get it I want to make sure it will be happy in my flat I have a south facing window but I live at ground floor so I don’t get that bright light as it normally gets in other flats Do you think this plant would be happy next to a south facing window which is not crazy bright? I would appreciate any advice x Comment from : Sarah Ghercia Puf |

got one cause it is so pretty but as it as full winter in canada right now and was in the door corridor for outside, i think it was too cold for her as one of her leaf turned mostly white and little ''foggy'' I moved it but now im afraid she will have to much sun (this plant is stressing me out as you can see!) its only a little 4'' plant i'm dreaming of it becoming as full as yours! (Also one of my cat bit some of the leaves just to help it of course) Comment from : Magalie Patenaude |

Now, I knew Comment from : Datuin Channel |

I would love to add this plant to my collection but I can't stand calathea's attitude My calathea roseopicta and my medallion are VERY fussy (the roseopicta even more so) and they have put me off from getting other calatheas 🙃😔 Comment from : Val Zygarsea |

My dad brought back this plant and it became my duty to take care of it since he’s stuck overseas (restrictions and all) Mine is growing really well, too well in fact, so is there anyway I can trim it? It’s growing taller and every so often I see new babies pop up from the soil I’m scared it’ll collapse under its own weight or outgrow its pot if new babies start popping up My pot is half occupied atm (half soil, half filled with plant) If anyone can advise, much appreciated :) Comment from : StarSaphire9981 |
