Have been using Cloudflare DNS for many years and it's working like a charm However, I have added a DNS server on my LAN This works by configuring the main router to route DNS request to my LAN DNS server (Technitium in my case) The LAN DNS server caches requests, so it does not need to lookup requests to the same domain name Other requests are forwarded to Cloudflare DNS servers An added benefit is that I can configure a LAN zone as well For example, nas2home returns the IP address of my nas2 server This is also very handy for smart TVs that can render media content No need to remember LAN IP addresses anymore
