Amanda FYI: Peat moss can be hazardous to your health …brSkin Contact: May cause irritation brEye Contact: May cause irritation, abrasions, redness, and permanent eye damage ( I had eye surgery, had peat moss get into my eyes from the PM dust getting in my eyes which immediately got irritated and had it all over my hands and rubbing my eyes making matters worse Went to eye doctor and it caused scar tissue in my eyes)brIngestion: Ingestion of large amounts may cause gastrointestinal irritation, choking/blockage

I’ve read lots of comments asking how often to use worm castingsbrUse every few months, you add a handful of worm castings to the base of the plant Every time it rains, or when you water the plant, a tiny bit of worm castings goes down into the soil, and your plant gets a delivery of organic vitamins and minerals Indoor and outdoor plants It's that easy!

I can't get coco coir locally and it's expensive online Also I've done some research and they've greatly improved the peat moss mining It's not as bad as they say or it used to be Also, coco coir isn't environmentlly friendly at all Might actually be worse for the environment The way they wash it and the way it's shipped The child labor ect A whole lot of issues there That industry is in a bad way actually

Also perlite and pumice are produced the same with heat only perlite is not porous but pumice does hold some moisture but not as much as vermiculite Pumice is my go-to!

Nearly the same recipe I use, which I learned from the gaggle of Hippies I grew up with 50, 30, 20 Peat, Post, & Perlite The compost we'd make looked nearly like worm casting, not quite as fine though, even had the same aroma and worms too! Compost piles when done properly are hot miracles!

The name she was trying to remember is "Dry Stall" at Tractor Supply but be careful because it's not the same as pumice Dry Stall is made of Diatomaceous Earth and Montmorillonite clay

The only thing with coco coir is it takes a bunch of fossil fuel to get it to you because it all has to be shipped in from other countries brSo when to compare peat is got from the states brJust a little something to think about

Coco coir is the way to go Like you said, it is renewable and pH neutral! Coco coir also expands and goes a long way I advise ppl to moisten it before you add it to the mix
