I would recommend a charge card (eg AMEX, Diners Club) and not a credit card A charge card has all of the advantages he mentions and unlike a credit card, you are forced to pay the entire balance off at the end of the month - thus avoiding any risk of getting into a debt trap and having to pay extortionate interest rates

Credit cards saved me from financial ruin more times than I can count even with interest on some of them for a period Most of the time I open a new card with 0 apr and pay it off But it has allowed me to fast track so many things and just get them done If I lost my job for whatever reason my cards could hold me out for months while fighting unemployment or looking for a new job Sure the debt and interest would suck but I wouldn't lose my house or my most valuable assets during the struggle Ideally you have no balance but even with a balance and large limits and effort you can get yourself out a bad situation or you could even finance a new entrepreneurial project to get yourself out The people that have horror stories usually bought a fancy car or a boat or something in the 10s of thousands of dollar range that was above their means and they did not need, not people who spent $3,000 on something really important

It makes sense for him to use a credit card The biggest risk with credit cards for most people is not being able to pay the owed amount each month which causes interest rates to go up and them to go into debt This dude probably has millions stored up so he doesn't have to worry about that
