Without fail, it's bitter melon, an Asian fave Beautiful vine with small fluted yellow flowers that bees love Full sun for 6-8 hrs Aside from the fruit, you can eat the leaves & make tea out of the roots Bitterness is medicine Bitter melon has dense nutrients, heals diabetes and increases heart health Great for skin and hair too Comment from : M H |

I'm so glad that you added Calendula! I love the flowers, but the real reason I grow them is for the medicinal properties!!! I sold my soaps for 15 years I had one major farmer's market and a couple of other smaller farmers'so if i s markets Luckily, I was blessed wìth a great personality, and a Glorious understanding of the essential oils He would work one market, and I would run to another I digress brI made balm out of Calendula, and another out of Lemon Balm! Oh, and when I can I use the leaves from cannabis plants The last balm is only for family, and friends, a wonderful pain killer, and no, you dont get high when you use it I know this because I am drug tested for pain management every 3 months brCalendula is grest on wounds to help heal and reduce any swelling, great on swelling, reduces healing time, great On bug bites and the irritation it can cause, helps dry skin and small wrinkles By making different tinctures it can help problems in your mouth and your eyes Comment from : MaryElaine-Blinstrub Chambers |

|
Although I love your videos I feel you should showcase open pollinated varieties, not hybrids- your center squash is an F1 hybrid of an heirloom variety that probably tastes even better- plus at $495 for 12 seeds that’s not that economical Saying this from a place of gratitude for your videos but I’m also a huge heirloom seed fan and a seed saver… Comment from : TheFutureIsNow |

I moved from N Cali in 1979 to Washington State and had to get my savory from family in California! Only the past 5 years have I been able to find it in the rural stores! It's always been my favorite seasoning for Chicken!!!! I agree with all 10 of your choices!!!! I would add peas for snacking on in the garden while working I used to grow corn every year as I love it to snack on in the garden as well as beans, peaswell, truly everything, actually! But the season and weird weather have changed that although this year is dryer than normal so I did plant some Comment from : Meem Kaplan |

Swisschard and Lemon Balm Located in the PNW Swisschard has done my family well for 4 years, since its cold most of the year the plants thrive Lemon balm was something many people locally didn't know about Get asked often, 'how do you use it'? It has a mild flavor I cook it in many dishes from spaghetti sauce, to roast chicken, to adding in ramen broth and more It's also nice in tea, lemonade, or simply a pitcher of ice water It also helps against mosquitos Plants shrink during the winter but comes back every Spring Like peppermint pull out some of the root and can start a whole new plant Lemon balm is greatly loved in our home 💚 Comment from : Alayna Christman |

I have dwarf fruit trees trained and pruned to 5 ft, berry bushes, and grapes lining the fences and the south side of the house (and stealthily placed in my front flowerbeds) Undergrowing all these bushes and trees are asparagus, potatoes, herbs, flowers, and some annual vegetables I love kabocha squash It will be my squash of choice this summer, but I think I'll plant centercut on a trellis in the front yard, as I'm always interested in good squash varieties Collards are the one green that grows well during hot summers--greens are so good for the endothelium Along with garlic, I think onions are vital Radishes, I recently learned are delicious cooked, so these prolific bulbs will be in my garden from now on My pole beans are a type of butter bean that produces a tuber making them perennial Also, field or sweet corn depending on my mood Nothing beats garden fresh cantaloupe, either I want to try my hand at cauliflower and purple cabbage because they are a staple in my kitchen My tiny backyard becomes a jungle during summer Comment from : SuzyQ |

I grew Cherokee Purple last year It's hard to believe that one plant can produce so much fruit You do have to keep them covered when the tomatoes are even thinking about maybe sorta starting to turn any color other than bright green or they'll split wide open We get plenty of rain and heavy dew and the Cherokee Purple has a thinner skin as most heirlooms do so it's just waiting for an excuse to crack wide open Comment from : Twisted Pixel |
|

We must have pepper plants When I say pepper, I mean anything from bell peppers to hot peppers or even sweet ones Every year I have a salsa garden I grow tomatoes, tomatillos, jalapenos, chilis, onions, garlic, and cilantro We must buy the limes as there are no limes that grow in our climate and we don't have the room or the money for a greenhouse We do grow others as well, such as kale, cabbage, broccoli, sunflowers, nasturtiums, calendula, dill, oregano, thyme, basil, sage, rosemary, savory, marjoram, celery, asparagus, eggplant, cucumber, and so much more I suggest cucumbers though as it only takes a couple of plants to give you more than you can handle in cucumbers We get the burpless kind because my husband has issues with them, and they aren't as prolific, but you still get tons of cucumbers to the point of giving them away lol Personally, I believe anything you grow yourself is a bonus, not just to the pocketbooks, but also to your health, enjoyment of the food you eat, exercise, bonding with nature for a different kind of health, as well as healthier for the planet too It's a win in so many ways!
