I planted 4 leaves directly into the soil a few months ago To this day the leaves stll look very healthy I expected them to grow into a new plant But when i looked in the pot today I found a teeny new plant coming up beside one leaf! My question is will the actual leaves grow up into a plant too? Comment from : @user-qi5el9yt3v |
I just was given a large jade plant and the leaves started falling off The plant is healthy so i think it is in shock from the move I am going to try leaf propagation, but I'm afraid the mother plant might loose too many leaves Any suggestions? Comment from : @toreyclark6495 |

I have a huge Jade plant covering the whole pot but with no long stem like yours after watching your amazing video I checked it and was surprised to find it to be 4 plants (one should be the mother) and 3 smaller ones I will transplant the 3 small plants, hoping to give the big one more space to grow I’ll also try to propagate few leaves as well… many thanks! Wow, I have never seen someone so diligent about tending to their comment section of a 3 year old video I came here after just having bought one of these plants, and was simply curious I glanced at the comments to see the comparison of sprouting methods, and couldn't believe each of your thorough and enthusiastic responses to everyone I am now subscribing, with the bell on, and going to try all these methods myself Great work! I'll let you know how it goes! Comment from : @jamiehosmer1481 |
So how many propagated leaves would you plant in one pot? Several or just one? Comment from : @salty_343 |

I watched your video and tried laying a Jade leaf on the soil and misted it periodically I’m so psyched it’s been a couple of weeks, when I checked the leaf today I see roots taking to the soil!!! Thank you for your video!!! Comment from : @waynekuehler9349 |
Love the video! I just got my first Jade plant and this is so so helpful I’m super excited to this You’ve got a new sub! Comment from : @sashaissajenko613 |
The process of forming new roots must be fairly slow, right? I have removed leaves as described, dipped the ends in rooting hormone, and left them on top of the soil for about a month now with no results Maybe I haven't been diligent enough with the misting as I should have Is it too late? Guess I need to wait a while longer Comment from : @daleandrews3552 |
I had my Jade plant for about 10 years before someone gave me a house plant (that ended up having spidermites or something, sigh) and it poorly effected my houseplants I thought my Jade plant was ruined, the leaves started looking weird In the end after trying many different things I read to do to help, I thought it was done for so I just decided to just cut off all the leaves and cut most if the branches down and see what happened, it all grew back beautifully and that was about 8 years ago and she is still thriving Comment from : @leilahfly |
My jade plant would not stop growing I repotted it before the winter and i guess its gotten too cold for it to thrive and its dropping leaves now Gonna try to grow them Comment from : @justwannabe6554 |
0:35 that part thats left on the stem from the leaf is actually the part you need to keep on the leaf for it to root so you dont cut it off but pull it off with your fingers with a little twist Comment from : @Rblock777 |
Thanks will try all methods Comment from : @carolpatulak7475 |
Hi! I have a question and hope this is an ok spot to ask it I have roots (and tiny tiny leaves) coming off of a jade leaf I've rooted in water It took a long time! I want to try to plant it in soil now, but I'm not sure how, and I don't want it to die now Do I put it directly from the water into soil? Do I let it dry out first? How deep do I plant it? Thank you for any advice/pointers you can give me Also, what about watering after planting? Do I water it immediately after planting it in soil? How often should I water it? Thank you! Comment from : @myshuffleplay7593 |

Hi there, thanks for the video Do we leave the leaf in the sun or in the shade? I'm growing indoors with a west (sunset) facing window From 3-Sunset we get direct sunlight Comment from : @MuMu-fu7qe |

Thank you for this advice and I will be trying it later on my jade plant Comment from : @minnasotafan2524 |

so laying a leaf on dry soil is the better option? I suppose when it grows leaves I should water it or mist? Comment from : @sirauron14 |
I put a leaf on the soil and in the soilactually did 6 of them they all died! For something so easy to propagate, I don't know what I did wrong! Comment from : @yolanderogers4096 |

I happened to come across a fallen leaf in the soil of my jade plant that has sprouted a very small baby jade plant! The mother leaf looks relatively fresh still so I'm planning to let it continue doing its thing until it shrivels up My question is, how should I handle watering this leaf/baby plant? The only watering it had gotten was when I had watered the soil of the original jade plant it fell from Should I give the baby plant/leaf a spray a few times a week? Comment from : @patsmythos |
Good job Comment from : @loovigelis6824 |

Thank's for sharing 😁 Comment from : @SuperChelsea33 |
Why would you cut when you can gently twist it off, it makes no sense whatsoever I mean it's great that somebody is challenging the general idea that you need stem cells in order for a new plant to grow, but this is just a messier way of doing it Comment from : @dimitrijekrstic7567 |
I also noticed if i take a pair cutting of leaves and let the new growth come from the middle its grown twice as fast as the single leaf cutting I guess it would be a butterfly method Comment from : @emilytustin4540 |
What does it mean when the leaf does this while it's still attached to its plant? Also, the tiny plant is growing from the middle of the leaf and not the edge? Comment from : @BestSpatula |

The first time I propagated a jade leaf, the plant took forever to grow It's still an inch tall after 15 years Am I doing something wrong? Comment from : @hellokitty7214 |
I accidentally left my jade in the shade for too long and it shrivelled even after beinf back in sunlight all the leaves began to fall off, I've taken all the fully healthy ones left and we'll see what happens (it's back in the sunlight too so it might come back to life who knows!) Fingers crossed but I don't have high hopes Comment from : @samfrost6474 |

Hey, thanks for the clear and helpful video! I have a young jade plant which is really struggling from overwatering (I thought it needed more water when the leaves started to fall) After realizing it was too much water, I checked for possible rot and cut off part of the stem (which was wet) and I'm trying to save it by propagating some of its leaves However, the leaves I've tried so far (laying them on the mix) haven't grown roots and started to shrivel Why is that? Thanks for the help! Comment from : @ibrahim5387 |
What tool did you use to cut? Comment from : @allison7066 |
Hi, I just went to repot my Gollum jade due to it looking root-bound & too big for its pot but the soil in the plastic pot was very damp and a little slimy on the outsides yet Gollum didn’t even look stressed & the roots were long & spiralling in the pot I noticed you’re using terracotta pots Is this the best pot type for jade? Is it safe to chop the roots back? Thank you Comment from : @susanlisson7066 |
I tried both methods The beginning of August, I put the leaves IN the soil and misted once in a while The end of Sept I laid some leaves ON the dirt and have not misted at all Hands down the leaves on top of the soil (with no misting/no water) have done way better (and faster) Comment from : @lainiekatz549 |
I’ve tried this method around 4 times now but roots just never grow from the leaf? Anyone know what I could be doing wrong? Thank you <3 Comment from : @kimmccallum5697 |
I have tried propagating my jade from a leaf a couple times but haven't had any luck yet I think I may try to bury the leaf partially like you did and give that a try 😊 brbrIf anyone is reading my comment and would like to watch me try this and other plant projects please go subscribe to my channel 😊 Comment from : @kaylasprettynails2848 |

So nice Comment from : @putingmatandavlogs8198 |

Does the leaf needs to scab off or you can leave it on the soil right away after plucking it from the mother plant Thanks in advance for the reply Comment from : @allstarchinky |

Wow, and I always thought that the leaf needed to be pulled off the plant completely (no leftover nubs on the stem) on order for roots to grow Interesting! Comment from : @IjeomaThePlantMama |
