'D' for Google Keep? Comment from : MG |
Thanks! I just needed something really simple for jotting down thoughts/ideas on the go that I can access via my phone and laptop interchangeably I've been using Google Keep, but -- and I don't think I'm stupid -- but Google Keep has just been a hot mess! I went with SimpleNote and it is absolutely PERFECT for my simplistic needs Thanks for putting this together! Love the tags so that I can easily hunt down things I'm looking for Comment from : Writing |
I love Obsidian and totally dislike Notion I feel like Notion is just to make "pretty notes" instead of getting the work done, and it is the slowest note taking app I've ever used Comment from : Alfonso Fraire |
thank you, i looked at some of them and simple note seems perfectly fitting for me ☺️ Comment from : Aleksander Kaminski |

Unfortunately despite its shortcomings nothing has beaten OneNote for me - its sync, its folder and infinite canvas page structure, its simplicity (the UWP version) and its pen and PDF support is just such a hard combination to beatbrbrIt's a shame its missing some really useful features and is quite buggy (the UWP version anyways), but I cannot replace it Comment from : Robin Rai |

Yo I have a problem with the note app on my android I'm an amateur writer and I wrote a lot on my phone but now when I try to use the note app I get an error and I can no longer access my precious notes I'll give you 150 euros if you can solve my problem, I want to access the notes, they're more important to me than the phone The note app is a system app on my android 9, the brand is Vernee X2_euro If nobody here can help I would appreciate anyone pointing me in the right direction, thank you Comment from : Go Togi |

Soo This was a great list, but a number of these that sounded really good i could not, absolutely not, find for Android It would have been really REALLY good to know which apps you can actually use on Android, iOS , to Windows, Mac, etc Especially if the App is very OS - specific!!! Comment from : BroAnarchy |
OneNote is actually awesome if you use Microsoft office Comment from : Joel4307 |

Wtf there's more chances of a cloud service going down or an account being suspended than your house catching fire Comment from : Hope |

I got scared when I saw Notion on tier B, I clicked on the video just to complain but it was clickbait hahahah Comment from : Patrick Wiens Marques |
You really do a disservice by just calling RemNote an “app for students” I’m a university professor and researcher, and I use RemNote for my daily notes, knowledge management, etc It is SO much more than just being a flashcard app I don’t use it for flashcards at all and actually wish I could turn that functionality off completely RemNote is actually very similar to Roam It has bidirectional links, a great PDF annotation, queried search, portals, search portals, etc, etc Seriously, just calling it an “app for students” is about as lazy and misleading as it gets Comment from : Nobody |
And how about Joplin? Comment from : João Ferreira |
Privacy issue and you give S tier? Good joke Comment from : Vojtic20VT |

Someone obviously never hears of org mode or vimwiki Comment from : Joshua Lee |
I personally like Obsidian's interface But it has a weird bug when exporting mermaid sequence diagrams to pdf Basically all the pointers in the diagram would be lost, making it useless for me The bug is well known but still not fixed because it is actually an upstream bug On the other hand, Joplin works flawlessly and it has export to svg option too Although I'm not a fan of its interface, functionally it does solve my problems Comment from : Rohith Mahesh |
Collanotes Comment from : Mihua Studies |

I used to use Evernote in college a decent amount I haven't had too much use for note taking the past few years Most of my work stuff is done in BaseCamp and I love Trello for organizing personal stuff (from Travel to tech projects to job hunting, it's great) brbrMy use case for notes has increased a lot lately so I thought I'd poke around and wow I love Obsidian It can be as simple or complex as you want it to be The UI is absolutely perfect and the community plugins are great More people really need to know about it I'm not sure what more you could really want out of a note taking appbrbrIt feels like a similar experience to VSCode but for note taking which is a great thing imo So far I only have the "Editing Toolbar By Cuman" plugin installed and it adds some handy rich text editor functionality to the top of the app which works great Comment from : LaterNerd |

I used notion for a year to manage all the pdfs for UNI Apart from being slow as fuck even though I had a very very fast PC, it was great That was 2 years ago It might be faster now But I remember it needing like 30 seconds to open my profile because I had a ton of stuff in It was horrible brbrGoodnotes is garbage Very limiting tools for notetaking Notability is much better They each have some redeeming qualities to their own but in general - Notability is just better and easier and faster to usebrbrAlso, OneNote is easily and I mean EASILY S tier if you're invested into MS system I have their premium subscription and I would've only used OneNote for note taking if it weren't for their lack of Page support You can only make notes on endless space, and if you want to export to PDF, it's almost impossible due to that A shame, because it's otherwise a very very good appbrbrEvernote is trash way too slow for its own good and it just doesn't seem very up to date with others Comment from : Blaž Bohinc |
jrnl with Vim Comment from : Christopher Exline |

Hello James! brbrHonestly, I like OneNote better than to give it a "B" tier It saves to the Cloud, and when my Computer died in November last year, (On Thanksgiving after 12 years of noble service) I had to go out and purchase a new computer, and when I downloaded and opened Microsoft Office 365, which I have a Family membership for, all of my Dungeons and Dragons fantasy world was still safely in the cloud, as were all of the pdf files I used to teach my Worldbuilding course for an Online K-12 Institution br- Saved my bacon! (in more ways than one) Comment from : Pauper Knight |
Which one works with git though? I want to be able to version my notes and none of them is very clear on git support :(brbredit: I remembered the FOAM extension in vscode Don't know why I stopped using it though Comment from : NostraDavid |
onenote a b ? and remnote an s ? you can't make a "local" database without logging in well if i put the installer on a laptop without internet, i can't use it so from the start is useless this tier list is very awkward Comment from : Alexandru Macedon |
Used evernote for years until a few days ago Always been great for notes and tasks and shopping lists and so forth, but especially after I started to learn more and more things, I missed more and more things in evernote Thankfully there's great apps/programs out there! Thanks for the video James Comment from : Thomas Franz |

Notion seems to be something what mostly YouTubers like I have tried it few times but every time I used more time to configure and design ui and so on than wrote actual notes so I have used basic apple notes because it does what I need best and I don't care other features what I don't need or use Comment from : Petri Lopia |
Personally, I'm looking for a note taking app that supports inline images and markdown for formatting Pretty much Joplin, except with better interface and faster syncing Comment from : Major Gear |
