Wish I knew this when I was a teenager when i didn't appreciate my curls (I was always trying to straighten my hair to no avail and plenty of damage) I love my curls now! I wonder about something, thoughbrAre we sure that the hair is absorbing water? Or is it simply heavier due to product sticking to it like a geavy oil? I have 3a-3c hair with low porosity Heavier conditioners seem to really increase moisture and bring out the beauty of the curls(as long as I never brush it when dry)😮, it stays shiny and curly As long as you moisturize your low porosity hair, it's all good brI think the floating hair could not be absorbing moisture for two reasons One, it could be coated with something that has a sealing action on the cuticle that may or not have a "closed" cuticle, or it is like she says - porosity is low due to the cuticle being "closed", not allowing water to be absorbedbrAll I know is the frizz is awful, so anything that prevents frizz is my friend! 😊😊😊brAnother thing is that different hairs from different areas of the scalp may not all be the same Do a test from the areas with the most glaring problem Comment from : @mamaboocee

Shampoo in general lifts the hair cuticle That’s why you use conditioner to bring the ph back and close the cuticle This would have worked the same with any shampoo Comment from : @bleeka325

This is not at all an accurate way to determine your hairs porosity at all My hair is high porosity and I was told this by a cosmetologist who also said she is a trichologist My hair floats on top of a cup of water and never sinks The water itself makes this "test" wholly inaccurate If you have hard water or different levels of chemicals, and minerals in your water will determine whether your hair will float or sink, not your hair's porosity Comment from : @iamme3518
