Offered Russian Command the courtesy call as was SOP when there were multiple nations in a combat zone You don't want/need to complicate already tense areas of operations These troops were brought to move on an outpost that was set up to protect a small, but important oil facility It was a very bad idea and was destroyed by numerous US assets that were in the theatre and more than willing to have a live fire mission I am thinking it became clear in short order that it was a very bad plan for all those on the attacker's side
