Hey, so I have just set up a new freshwater aquarium I added beneficial bacteria yesterday and came down this morning to find it cloudy I tested the water parameters and it doesn’t seem to be anything concerning I’ve no fish in the tank so should I just let it go clear on its own or do some water changes? any help would be much appreciated

I kept saltwater and freshwater for 40 years now with no problems and never do water changes I use homemade plexiglass tops that stop water evaporation and use sponge or homemade internal filters, and internal pumps My very first aquarium was a 20 gallon saltwater hexagonal tthat had a 2 foot yellow-headed moray eel from a garage sale I kept it for 9 years and he was three feet for most of that time with a hang on filter and an under gravel filter and I hardly ever changed the water I also never test and I always enjoy my fish!

I think when you cleand the aquarium you had to set up all the electrick filters heaters and put the water run the vacum filters and set all the rocks even there is no fish it will be cleand aslong the filter is working but its better if there is fish it helps to cleand the glass and water Water ocigen when water is circulate if that what they call

Cloudy water because of bacterial bloom? Just feed less and let the bacteria that clear up the cloud grow to clear it up

Add COTTON into the filter In a way that water has to flow thru this cotton Its very fine and will take out any greenwater algae and similar particles Keep it only 24 hours as it can clog quickly and start decomposing

The current solution would be to sell my Rosy BarbsThese creatures not only ate all my snails but also uproot my plants on a nearly daily basis on the search for food(And no they get enough food, about 10 out of 66 fish are 'fat'Its impossible in a community tank to feed equal)So its been cloudy because I have to replant and disturb the soil(I didn't had a problem before I introduced 11 Rosy Barbs)

I just upgraded to a 25 gallon tank I’ve never used more than 10 gallons brI use well washed river rock … decoded I hated it when the water clouded up… I bought new and washed it!! It went cloudy with the first feeding, I waited two days had clear water, on the first feeding it went cloudy… brI’m blaming not knowing a high volume eco system or something … I’ve never ever had troubles with 10 gallons or less

Dealing with cloudy water at the moment in a 55gal that's been set up for years Too many mistakes on my part (took my canister filter offline and simultaneously stirred up my deep sand bed while using gravel vac) I unintentionally destroyed my bio filter I did water changes daily for about 2 weeks and it never improved Now I'm leaving it alone and adding supplemental bacteria to get things jump started No signs of improvement yet, but I'm sure it will It's hard to be patient when you can't see through the tank

Biologists say there is no such thing as a nitrogen cycle in an aquarium Just a myth The slime mold and aerobic bacteria handle the load And if there is more load than they can handle it's going to produce cloudy water and it turns to ammonia

Starting up with just washed out gravel and driftwood with one bole aegagropila and some vallisneria spiralis also produces cloudy water Because of the driftwood you want to do some daily water cycles and turned the leds off My approach doesn’t match with a dark start without plants and 2 months soaked and cooked driftwood I can’t find any answers for temperature Not into brewing beer but will definitely be a factor 🍺

Hmm it’s weird because I have 2 new tanks Before water is fairly clear It’s still in fishless cycling now Two days After water change ( almost 100) both of my tanks get very cloudy… the only difference this time is: 1) 90-100 water change 2) spend hours without refilling in water because need to add new plants 3) before the water change there is longer period of blackout ( more the 20 hours ) I use Amquel plus water conditioner and API bacteria booster 😢😢😢😢 why is this milky !!! The only good thing is that the aquariums of both don’t smell as bad as before 😂
