if your controller was new and was discharged for a long time make sure you use a USB cable provided by Sony or some sturdy branded USB cable that is capable of supplying proper charge to the controller I had the same issue and was trying to use other USB cables I had lying around which did not work till I used the actual cable Comment from : SMD

There are newer dual shock 4 controllers and older ones the newer ones are basically designed poorly which is why they have charging and connecting issues and these are the ones there selling in stores now If you get an older model you may not have these issues Comment from : Nick Forest
