7:10 I think there's a difference between helping Sally with her SEO and Digital Marketing during a Coursera homework and actually working at a company doing SEO/Digital Marketing I wouldn't put it down on my resumé as work experience under a bogus company name Comment from : The Dance Hackers Guide to Argentine Tango |

I'm having a hard time getting interviews for scientist / engineering jobs despite having a PhD from an excellent program and several job experiences after graduation I think I'm a good fit, I tailor the resume to the job, and my interview rate is 10-15 I wonder if one issue is the fact that I exclusively worked at startups Comment from : baguazhang2 |
It's possible you got more interviews for resume template number 1 because more tools are built to process a common format like that Comment from : iii |
Recruiters, at least in graphic design/marketing, are dogsh!t Worthless Comment from : Bob LeGlob |

You can actually combine the results with multiplication An ethnic woman's name and no big brand name at the top each give your results a multiplier of 055, and having a non-robotic design and having a job gap each give a multiplier of 044 The multiplier affects the control test of 18 out of 100brSo 18*055*055*044*044 and ta-da! If you're an ethnic woman who hasn't worked for a big brand, cares about design, and had a job gap for any potential problem that might've appeared in your life, and you write a perfect resume, YOUR CHANCES OF GETTING AN INTERVIEW ARE 109! 10 months of looking, refined resume various times to what you have Multiple networking groups and networking 30 years of experience with telecom but only go back 10 on resume Out of almost 1000 applications, 15 interviews, 3 of those 2nd rounds and have not landed I’m not old enough to or can retire Went through the 6 month money reserve Just so disheartened Comment from : Ru T |
I know this video essentially says: "KISS" but what about those jobs that still gave a chance despite not being the "ideal" resume? Like, I'd rather get a response from a 1 "GOOD" company vs 200 shitty employers who are going to treat me terribly Quality vs Quantity Comment from : LostConciousness |

500 job applications about 8 interviews, this year is almost impossible to get a job as a software engineer Comment from : Cherry Mia |
Entertaining…even in your experiment ALL interview counts were above the 5 threshold of “great response in todays market” you set out at the beginning of the video so relying on any of your conclusions on bias is a stretch…expert wording of some of the “bullets of experience” may have triggered “interview this person” more than the name or dates/gaps that you convey…thoughts? Comment from : BigTimeRockFan |

The happy nostalgia when you said control variable :) Comment from : By 6 |

When people asked what is White privilege this is one of those things By just having a "White" sounding name you would be well ahead of someone with a foreign name That is a fact and nobody can dispute it and is the sad reality for anybody who doesn't have a White sounding name or surname Comment from : The Hacks-By-Jack Channel |

Thanks This means that I am putting a big company name in the brackets aka "bigName (subsidiary | supplier)" since both startups I worked for were exactly that I actually worked only three months for the first one, because I volunteered to transfer to the other one I guess that looked kind of weird on the resume Comment from : Backstabba AI Postaz |

The reason resumes 3 and 5 were unsuccessful is that the Applicant Tracking System (ATS) was unable to read them Recruiters do not have the time or energy to read every resume; they rely on the ATS, which scans the resumes and assigns a score of up to 100 points If your score is below 80, you will automatically receive a rejection email A score above 80 means a recruiter will review your resume That's why it's advisable to search for an ATS-friendly resume template and use that instead Comment from : Adam |
did same thing many times and found out 0 recruiters care about me, interviews do not happen afaik Comment from : I M |
Its quiet interesting how we reject the reality of our situation and expect to be able to observe it, control it and even change it I used to be financially depressed until I read a book that made me realized that the secret to making a million is making better investments_ Comment from : cathy walter |
As an interviewer, I find the first and second so busy and messy I wouldn't bother reading through them The 3rd is a particularly bad template with those self-assessed point scales, which nobody should ever do Also, these resumes are fairly easily identified as scam with a simple LinkedIn reference check, which almost all companies do nowadays Comment from : SniperMayer |
You could also apply to 500 colleges with a 1600 SAT score and 45 GPA ZERO acceptance Change last name to Johnson, and all 500 will be accepted What's funnier than LGBT in support of Hamas is seeing Asians actually supporting affirmative action Comment from : Jman |

But even if you have a Caucasian name, you get the first interview, you will just waste your time cus you won't get a second interview or the job Comment from : Iu-Chen Lai |
So, the conclusion is that we need to work for a well known company to get the highest interview rate Cool, I'll be sure to make that happen👍🏻Also, I've gotten 0 interview calls I guess my white privilege isn't paying off 🫢 Comment from : NemophilistPNW |
Clearly no one is reading the content of those resumes The content is horrendous A red flag for hollow bullshit artistry The structure is the only thing good Both shocking and disappointing to know that a good structure is the only thing necessary to reach interview Makes me believe our society is succumbing to Idiocracy--funny movie Comment from : icawn |
As a career coach his advice is spot on for the most part There was only one part I didn't agree with which was taking the months off with the year but that's up to a personal preference He is also right about the projects part Doing something as a simulation is better than not having something to show brbrWell done!! Comment from : Shaquille Rivera |
I haven't tried the trick of leaving off the months Maybe I did once years ago and forgot But yeah, I'm going to start doing that to see what happens I can't get any fewer calls for interviews! Comment from : Daren Scot Wilson |
Sad, that there's such a massive flux of resumes emitting from all the job hunters and entering the information orifices of all organizations, that some of us can play games with fake resumes, to make a hypothesis and test it with several hundred doctored-up resumes, even with proper scientific method using a control group and statistical analysis techniques brA new subfield of Data Science! brBut in a sane world, there would be only 1/1000 as many resumes and job applications flying through the wires Comment from : Daren Scot Wilson |
If you are white God have mercy on your soul The chance of you getting a job especially as an executive all but zero today unless you know someone in that company Sadly for white men it is only going to get worse Comment from : Snake Plissken |

In the competitive world of job applications, it's essential to customize your cover letter, résumé, and personal characteristics to closely match the qualifications and expectations of the prospective employer It's important to recognize that, in many cases, the ultimate decision-maker is the future head manager rather than HR Hence, professionalism and a strong alignment with the company's requirements are paramount Comment from : cathy Choi |

cannot agree I’m a baby boomer but on the youngest end near Gen X, I do know that back in my early days, getting a job was much easier than it is today, and it was faster Right now, companies know they have the upper hand, to borrow a real estate term, it is a seller’s market brbrSo competition is fierce, and we’re dealing with lots of AI that can disqualify you simply because, for instance, you don’t have SaaS on your resume, but all the platforms on which you develop are SaaS platforms So you add it Or you have security and not security settings, because it takes up too much space, but I make room for it brbrThere are so many examples of this It’s insanity I just started using this keyword tool today, so time will tell But regardless, let’s all try to be more supportive of one another There’s too much division I really dislike generational labels, it’s just one more way they divide and discriminate against us Comment from : Karen Spence |
I’ve been told that resumes with columns, which #3 definitely has, is not ATS friendly I do think #3 is eye appealing, but I keep reading and hearing from corporate recruiters not to use columns or too much color Some white space is definitely appreciated Resume #s 1 and 2 need some white space, they’re busy And header columns for work experience, education, etc can be all caps and a color Mine is teal Right now, it’s such a game, so I’m trying to be as easy on ATS platforms as possible I also use a resume/job description comparator, which tells you what keywords are missing so you can add them to your resume and get a 70 match rate or higher! Comment from : Karen Spence |
