how can you have a limit sell and a lower stop price (like on phemex)? I am confused how to have a limit that you want to sell at, but also have a stop in case price starts dropping Comment from : Flip da Whip |

So I am new to Coinbase I was having trouble setting a stop-loss after I had set my sell limit It was saying that I had "insufficient funds" even though I had more more on the side than what I had put in to trade with Do you think it wasn't letting me set both because it just simply won't allow you to set both at the same time? Or is there another reason why it wasn't letting me set both? Comment from : Vincent Ramos |

Got stuck like an idiot when i could have made money I still made money but now I know why it did not sell when it hit stop lolmy stop was 16 And my limit was 20 lol I thought I was picking a buy and sell price with the stop choice Now it all makes sense Comment from : Ryan Wright |
Go slow if not it’s annoying Comment from : Aditya Bhagavathula |

Hm I made a stop limit order that was immediately filled even though the price was trading more than 2 higher than the stop price As a consequence, the fill price I got was slightly over 2 higher than the stop How do you explain that? I made the stop order with a gap, just like in the above example Thankfully this landed me in a small profit, but I really wanted the trade to stay open Comment from : kebman |
Very well explained without extra baggage, thanks Comment from : John Arrington |

Coinbase Pro app executes all limit sell orders immediately at the current market price even if the limit sell price is $500 (BTC) below the current market price This is a major bug and needs to be fixed I have made several limit sell orders well below the current price and the orders execute immediately at market price What is the point of having limit order functionality when it never works? There are other issues with the service as well The price of executed trades (and fees) differs between app and website Orders executed on the app show different prices (and fees) than the website order history This occurs for a majority of executed orders and the delta can be as high as 5 That is totally unacceptable The SEC needs to start looking into this company Comment from : Age of Reason |
On the flip side, using your example (Stop Price: $4,000, Stop Limit: $3,950), wouldn't it be worse if the market flash crashes and is suddenly below the $3,950 threshold? And if the asset price drops to, say $2,000, that's what you're stuck with? brbrWouldn't it be better to place a Stop Market order at $4,000 so you get the closest market price to that number? brbrSo in a sense, isn't it more risky to place a stop-limit? Still confused First day doing this Comment from : Tyga Hero |

This video explained the purpose of the stop-limit order so perfectly I've been trying for a long time to understand how a limit order varied from a stop-market order and stop-limit order and I understand now Protecting yourself from sudden price drops when you are physically unable to do it is so important Comment from : Siddharth Rane |
this video was awesome, I've been trying to figure out how these orders work for so long and you explained it perfectly every other source I've tried is extremely complicated and doesn't really help me Comment from : sleepful |

Why is the limit price lower than the stop loss? If I want to sell my crypto shouldn't I have the limit price at 4000? And stop loss lower just in case the market crashes So at 3500 to ensure I don't lose out? Comment from : Futurisma Education |

I wish CBP would allow you to buy something and at the same time place a stop-loss order in case you're wrong From what I'm understanding The Stop limit order is only when you actually own the coin or want to buy it at the limit price that has been triggered by the stop order So it's not actually a stop loss until you set it as stop-limit order once you've purchased This all takes 2 complete orders, correct? Comment from : Dale |
From 3:35 on is literally my go-to reference as I always forget WTF stop vs limit is (ie that you want a gap and put limit lower than stop, and limit is your lowest price you want to sell at) Comment from : DAE51D |

@deeplizard Hi, hope all is well I tried what i learned from this video a few days ago but the results of the trade are still confusing to me Ok so what I did was: On May 1st, I set the STOP PRICE on ETH/EUR at 13997 and the LIMIT PRICE at 13390 On May 2nd my ETH got sold When I go to MY ORDERS --> FILLED and I click the arrow to expand the details what I see is: 13390 on the top row and 13978 on the bottom row What does this mean? Which of the 2 prices was it sold (13390 OR 13978)? ETH/EUR never went down to 13390 on May 2nd (the day it was sold) so that means it got sold at 13978? Did I do something wrong, why did it sell at that price? Hope the above makes sense, I am quite confused now on how the stop-limit-order works as I was expecting it to sell only if it went down to 13390 Thanks in advance Comment from : Suz |
Great video, exactly what I was looking for clear, straight to the point many thanx x Comment from : Suz |

Hey deeplizard, tnx for the explanations so far! I was wondering if there is a way to place a stop order AND a take profit order at the same time Placing a stop order deducts from your balance, so I'm not able to place another order for a take profit Am I missing something? Comment from : Martin Chaushev |
good video Comment from : Dario Aguado |
Why does a fee show up when I enter an amount into the limit price when on advanced under a stop sell order? I didnt see a fee on your screen when you did it? Thank you! Comment from : jason mathias |
DLi watched your stop loss video but to me stop limit orders are a much safer bet than market stops so are there any instances you would use a stop loss market order? i don't see any reason to do this as they are extremely dangerous if a flash crash occursthe only reason i ask is because you left the video up for bothi wasn't sure if you did this just to explain each onebut do you personally use stop limit orders instead of market?? Thanks Comment from : Bleeding- Edge |

Great information but I have a question At 029 you say that the order is not on the order book and your pointer is highlighting 400000 But there appears to have over 100 coins to be sold Am I missing something? Comment from : Ken James |
hey bro just a quick question, if for what ever reason the coin does not sell in that gap of 3950 and 4000 but the coin drops below 3950 what would be the behavior of the stop loss feature ?? Comment from : scorlin gonzalez |
Hey man is this a correct so my understanding is as follows - Sell Stop-Limit: Let's say a security is currently trading at $3000 I'd like to sell the security if it reaches or goes below $2900, but only if the security can be sold for $2800 or more I place a Stop-Limit order by setting the Stop Price at $2900 and the Limit Price to $2800 If the security reaches or goes below $2900, my order becomes a limit order with a Limit Price of $2800 So I sold the security at $28? Sounds a bit "duh" for me :) but I wanted to make sure I understood this ha haAlso will GDAX charge me a fee since it is a "limit order" - thanks again bro! BTW man you should create a training course and have it on Udemyjust do not charge me for giving you a good idea nowlol Comment from : Degen Viking |
Is there no way to set a high and low at the same time?brLike say you hold bitcoin bought at a certain amount and you want to make a small profit of like 10, but you also don't want to hold forever Is there a way to make an order that says at 10 profit sell for profit, or at 5 loss sell for loss? Or is it only one or the other? Comment from : Vidavis Prime |
Finally a good & easy to follow video Comment from : MehShade |
Excellent video though Comment from : Venu Gopal |
I am a little baffled here I though when you are selling BTC stop order price should be less than limit price and when buying stop order price should be more than limit price as limit price is the one you want to execute trade Please correct me if I am wrong Comment from : Venu Gopal |
