Just pay using your mobile app that provides tokens to act as decoys encrypting your cards' information, especially in gas stations These tokens are useless on their own when they are not backed by your cards' original signature reading Tokens are only backed (and effective) within the card holders' mobile devices, while scammers may have stolen your token readings which is just a decoy at best they still cannot pay using your tokens 🔐

The skimmer thing is legit and can occur but to say never use your credit card is kinda dumb Never use DEBIT card but using a credit card is fine If your card was skimmed, the credit card company will reimburse and issue you a new card I’ve had my card skimmed before and I never used any payment that I didn’t authorize After all it’s the banks money, not yours Debit is much hard to convince a bank that you didn’t spend your own money

Really appreciate your tips My credit card was skimmed at a gas station several years ago that I'd never used before After that I set up my credit card to notify me immediately whenever something gets charged It gives me a real peace of mind Another thing I try and do is buy gas at Costco, I've noticed that they have tape over the scanner with a date saying when it was last verified as being the real deal Also, they have attendants outside all the time

I worked for Wayne which manufactures about 1/2 the gas pumps out there You a can't tell if a skimmer is installed inside, but 99 of internal skimmers only work on the type of credit card reader in this video The ones that read chips are secure

The great thing about using Credit Cards is with most of them you have no liability to pay that money, especially during scams With Debit cards, it's gone You have ways to get it back but for the most part with Credit Cards it's not your money until you pay it off (which you always should do every month) 99 of the time i'm always using credit, for not only that but because they always give you cash for using them

Don't forget to check the seal tape on the gas pumps as well Also, you can do a quick visual comparison to see if there are any obvious differences between the reader on one pump and the neighboring ones
