The Vikrant looks like a sensible design Bow ski jump for STOVL and angled flight deck for STOBAR all in the same carrier All bases covered at relatively low cost Compare with the comedy QE carriers with no angled flight deck and an in line ski jump meaning only STOVL operations are possible Surely a political carrier configuration so as not to offend the Yanks and show our servitude by buying and operating the ho hum F35b franchise on a carrier that is big enough (though not really fast enough) for CATOBAR and STOBAR operations The UK should at the very least amend the QE carriers to be STOBAR capable like the Vikrant at the earliest opportunity and navalise the Typhoon and make sure the BAE Tempest is carrier capable from first flight But alas, the defence establishment in the UK will continue to refuse to do the obvious and deliberately make the QE carriers totally dependent on the F35 and US sourced drones (even thought he UK is more than capable of designing and operating home developed versions of both for less cost than buying off the US shelf)
