can this be done by also taking plastic starters and using a knife to slit strips all around the pots to give more room for air to reach the roots? Comment from : @1Gibson |

I am finding that my net cups didn't "air prune" like they should have I might have to cut some roots to get them out of the cups They have a tangle of roots under the bottom and on the sides Otherwise, they are beautiful! I found your videos while doing a search on basil problems Some of my basil plant leaves are very pointy and skinny or something Anyways I am a new subscriber I love the way you explain things I was going to try raised beds next year but I may try this I use 5 gallon buckets for tomatoes but some of them aren't looking too goodlol It's as if it's fall already I will also have to try using the lime powder and other stuff Any tips are appreciated :) Comment from : @sexyfufutoo |

Larry, 2 questions, please The write up on this product states the cups "let the roots grow through the slits" - you say the roots self-prune Why didn't yours grow thru? Second, what about using a coffee filter to line the cup? I do that with larger standard pots in the bottom to keep the soil from washing through the drainage holes but still allowing water to drain It would keep the soil from coming out (and still let air in) the slits or isn't that a problem?
