My biggest (perhaps only) character/plot complaint in the film is when Quint deliberately pushed the 'Orca' to the breaking pointbrOfC, the scene's there to immobilize the boat and to show that working-class Quint knows his craft better than upper-class Hooper still, it seems forced for Quint's character brHad he just acted prudently, the film would've ended much differently

One of the things I really like is how at first Quint treated Brody and Hooper like fun little pastimes while he waited for Bruce to show up, but over time he really comes to rely on them and view them as useful He never could have pulled some of his tricks off without them there If this had been a success and all three of them had made it out, I wouldn’t be surprised if Quint would even contemplate bringing them back every once in a while as deckhands He’d never outright ask, of course, but I don’t think he’d object if one of them asked (not that Brody ever would lol)
