It is necessary to flood the Indian market with different multi-vitamin, zinc, iron, and Omega 3 tablets/liquids In USA/Europe, one can buy these tablets even in stationery stores without any prescription from a doctor USA/Europe actually flooded their market with these tablets India has to do the same Allow any shop to sell these tablets, even a stationary shop inside an interior village will be able to sell these tablets Indian govt can subsidize the production of these tablets, such that the cost of these tablets remain much lower and anybody can buy these tablets It is also necessary to prepare a fixed chart of healthcare for pregnant mothers This chart will describe what type of food, or minimum vitamin tablets, they will consume during the pregnancy period Every TV channel will show that to aware the common people This is one of the first steps to tackling these issues Generally, most Indians are vegetarian, which actually causes these problems Comment from : Soumitra Hazra |

The problem is we are too much concerned about India's overall place in the list and not the actual areas india needs improvement By niti aayog's own account as pointed out in the vid, India is doing very poorly India is a stable democracy with not much internal or external conflicts, with a supposedly booming economy (I am not counting the recent economic downturn) India should see rapid reduction in child wasting, stunting and improvements in food security, like seen in China or in Thailand (a very politically unstable country) But, it's not happening, that means there's a fundamental problem with Indian developmental model, that has not been rectified with subsequent governments Instead looking at these systemic problem holistically we are busy arguing about useless things Comment from : Sayak Choudhury |

Nothing to demean anyone going hungry One thing that many of us in US do is so called TMAD & OMAD Two meal a day & One meal a day This is so effective in curing lots of ailments, it’s better to go hungry once a week This is the latest trend in health science See Autopgagy in Google Comment from : Janardhan Srinivasan |

Talking about meat and nutrition, I guess Mr Gupta has not watched latest documentary on Netflix "Game Changers" You do not need Meat for protein In fact, the studies done say the opposite Eat plat based proteins They are the best The meat Industry is really killing the planet, unfortunately the awareness is lacking Vitamin B12, just use a supplement Comment from : Ramesh Kadambi |

We need a religion /community based break up of these figures sir I've been been suspecting for a few yrs now that our predominantly vegetarian diet, even our nonvegetarians don't consume animal proteins daily or even weekly , coupled with a reduction in dairy content is a significant problem Comment from : Amit Ray |

Excellent video once again This video series has become my daily staple, too bad it doesn’t count in the hunger index! Kudos to the team for finding very interesting and relevant topics and top marks for the excellent simplified explanation Comment from : Riddhiman Medhi |
CTC does a wonderful analysis but this episode suffers from one lacuna The health indices followed by international organizations assume 'one size fit all' approach which is totally wrong What's applicable to the western society may not be applicable to the Indians particularly those who are vegetarians While I agree that carb, fat and salt need to be much lower and junk food should be avoided, I am unable to agree with the conclusion of increasing meat in schools Recent research has shown vegetarians are healthier relatively As Dr BMHegde says, so long as one has enthusiasm and happy to do work for the benefit of everyone, that person is healthy Hence, Global hunger ranking based on one set of statistics may be misleading Comment from : Chandra Ramasamy |
Every video ends with a half-spoken, partially uttered word and the signature tune starts chimingbrbrWhat's with the Hollywood style edits Comment from : Nagesh Rajan |

Shekhar ji, I don't usually post comments but let me point out that your recommendation to eat more meat is no longer factually accurate based on today's nutritional science It is a dated concept promoted by government health agencies backed by corporations that runs counter to the state of the art in nutritional science Here is the US, there is a whole movement that is just upending society's views towards meat and animal products Lots of peer reviewed papers are available but this is best explained by checking out the book "The China Study" as well as Netflix documentaries "Forks over Knives", "The Game Changers" and "What the Health" These will not just transform your definition of healthy eating but also personally get you off your prescription medications in just a few weeks Today's epidemics of diabetes, heart disease and auto-immune diseases are 100 man made Comment from : Arun Tejaswi |
Dear Sir,brI think this is a useless index The height weight etc depends on many other parameters like climate, hereditary, etc So the calculation is meaningless Comment from : Sunil Mathew |
watching this while eating lollipop Had to go through a guilt trip Comment from : Hrithik Mehta |
I think so India should focus on dairy as milk and products like curd and panner are most accepted food generally even considering restrictions of all sects for( example jain) in India etc br2nd point is that school should have a separate subject on nutrition which will guide them how to balance a mealbrFor example if people eat rice with good quantity of dal and also include some nuts like ground (which are not that expensive compared to almond cashew etc)nut etc their meal is complete with good protein fiber even, some micros with vegie and some curd thats it a poor man can also afford these things but lack of knowledge creates this problem Comment from : India D |

Beef is considered as a poor man's protein, and Shekhar someday you must also have a session on this to educate indians, especially Hindus, that they should start challenging the faith and take up beef as a part of protein since it can come really cheap Most of the Hindus i have seen, when they go out to western countries, they do eat beef there, but back home in India, we bring the barrier of religion and culture in the middle of it Comment from : R C |
