headlinerbeats
pretty sure if linux would ditch that weird filesystem towards something more user friendly adoption would be way higher Sometimes an app goes here, sometimes here, sometimes there All the folders no end-user would usually need should be hidden by default and so on I can speak for many people I know that tried linux that this alongside difficulties to install programs made them ditch and go back to windows
Comment from : headlinerbeats

Martin Wilkinson
This was great, a quick refresher gallop around Linux for a techie who hasn't touched it/Unix for 30 years! This is the video equivalent of 'C' - succinct, efficient and needs some familiarity to get everything out of it!
Comment from : Martin Wilkinson

Paul West
Best presentation on this subject I have every seen good job!
Comment from : Paul West

nagchampa
The NTFS file system is actually case sensitive like *nix, but the tools in windows default to it being case sensitive It means things can get confusing if you dual boot and create two files with the same name with different cases
Comment from : nagchampa

marcus
so it just hit me, mac os i mean apple bs is basically for underage’s, windows micros is for adults and linux is for retired old wise man’s 😏 🤔

I want to publish a few domains on a linux box, using nginx I also have some Rack applications that keep all this a dynamic web presence I need access to the logs for analysis, and I need to change the web files from time to time from my workstation This means that my previous efforts saw permissions issues all over the place, including in the cron that backs things up brbrWhat path should I be using for my html files (yes, the whole dynamic system) and logs? /usr/local/share? /var?
Comment from : BeeRich33

My word Linux is a mess I mean, Windows is no better, but it's obvious this evolved over time and isn't as clean as it should be That different software installers can vomit files all over your filesystem in different ways is no better than Windows
