I think that the stems were to long to get water to the leaves and so it didnt have enough energy to produce new roots There is even a video on youtube about the exact issue that you had, but with a monsterra cutting which also was to big to survive in water
Comment from : pog

Richard Kasper
Its cause its woody May have worked with rooting hormone like air layering but that is tricky

Amber Xenopoulos
I live in New England, I bought a fiddle leaf and it WAS full of leaves when I purchased but made the mistake of an immediate repot for the purpose of the soil being too fine and moist She dropped all but one leaf She’s in a N facing window and is thriving!! I’m going to try to make notches in the stem and see if new branches or leaves pop out
Comment from : Amber Xenopoulos

TorQueSS J
Yea I don’t think I’ll get one ever I’m not into drama lol
Comment from : TorQueSS J

Marissa
Hi Krystal, I picked up a tree like this by the trash, with just one leaf I put it in a corner with very bright sun and WARM and it has thrived Sometimes I forgot to water it and I dried it out and it did fine Maybe this helps
Comment from : Marissa

Abby Kline
This is why I don't want a fiddle leaf fig Worse than a calathea or begonia I swear
Comment from : Abby Kline

Marionela Mocanu
Had similar issues with a ficus my mom gifted me Just decided it didn't love me, wouldn't propagate, nothing was taking, so I feel the pain!
Comment from : Marionela Mocanu

Mia Hill
They just need to be shaken and they’ll thrive
Comment from : Mia Hill

Jocelyn Rose
What about what's in the pot?
Comment from : Jocelyn Rose

HennyTheHorrible
Simply too much moisture 3/4 cactus/succulent mix to 1/4 organic potting soil add pearlite or coco bark whatever makes u happy My partners fiddle leaf is the only plant I have that doesn't like the "drown that hoe" mentality Only exception being a repotbrShake your fiddleleaf like an unloved child and it'll beef up <3
Comment from : HennyTheHorrible

a r
Your props were too big Leave only 1-2 leaves It put all its energy to keeping so many leaves alive instead of growing roots
Comment from : a r

violet houseworth
muck water works for rooting>>>however HEAT works for the tropicals>>Throw that glass outside in the shade>>>The heat and muck water ROOTS ANYTHING

Gustavo C
I just spent $100 on one I do not want to see thisss
Comment from : Gustavo C

A G Fritzen
I'll admit I'm a beginner, amateur for sure But maybe you shouldn't have chopped it up That really should be a last resort I also had the same issue you did with the leafs, that's why I got it on clearance What I did was prune the effected leaves themselves leaving as much leaf as I could and just gave water and lots of sun She's thriving ♥
Comment from : A G Fritzen

Ambermichelle Nope
You were so close, it just got too hot!brTry again love
Comment from : Ambermichelle Nope

Comment from : B C

Elyssa Lozano
My fiddle leaf fig looked like it was dying the slowest, most painful death for almost a year I made no changes to it whatsoever but recently it has put out the biggest leaves it has and is growing like crazy I do not understand them at all
Comment from : Elyssa Lozano

AwakenedGraphics
Just keep changing the water and leave them in mine took forever for the roots to start growing
Comment from : AwakenedGraphics

SK
All the leaves of mine fell out and now she's thriving - but i didn't cut anything Got 5 new leaves in a short time 🎉❤
Comment from : SK

Lauren Klinger
Next time scrape the rough brown bark a bit the expose the green underneath Don't scrape the green away! Keep all scraped cutting in water up to potting Allowing the scraps to dry and close up is bad You can put them directly into a moist potting soil or dip them in honey or root hormone forst before potting Fiddles are fickle They hate being touched or brushed against
Comment from : Lauren Klinger

rebecca samuell
Ok I don’t feel bad now My fiddle hated my house Now she’s outside in a good spot Perkier but not thriving I’ll try notching her next and see if that helps but I’m not going to let her keep talking to me this way
Comment from : rebecca samuell

megsanmakeup
The fiddles like air flow and air movement And indirect light
Comment from : megsanmakeup

Head Honcho
When leaves droop during propagation it's best to cut them They will suck the life out of the cutting I propagate sea grape trees that way Both plants grow very similar and like the same conditions I tend to cut every leaf off of the cutting I just got and propagate it that way
Comment from : Head Honcho

Meredith Williams
I had success with this but I used an opaque pot instead of clear It loved it!
Comment from : Meredith Williams

Tay RioBravo
I kept a fiddle I adopted alive for a whole year, got the bright idea from YouTube to chop her down to sprout some branches… she’s never looked closer to death And all my clippings have mold ……
Comment from : Tay RioBravo

Shannon McQuaid
Try slicing the bottom of the stem next time and propagating in soil ( you need to keep whole plant super moist) and use whatever mix you would use to try and propitiate more tree like plants It will still take a while, but the stems can start to rot in water alone
Comment from : Shannon McQuaid

Roddy Best
It took my fiddle propagation almost 3 months to root but once it did it put out a lot of them
Comment from : Roddy Best

Andie Robinson
Don’t let it make you rethink everything fiddle figs, fiddle leaf figs are a hard tree to grow It has to have optimal, everything optimal, sun optimal air optimal watering they’re hard they’re just hard I refuse to try again with them I absolutely refuse
Comment from : Andie Robinson

ANNE BROWN
After taking care of the fiddles at a big box store, I found that they are grown and shipped in wild ways If that thing died on you, it’s bc he did not want to live They come in a huge box STACKED ON TOP OF EACH OTHER They are sitting in sopping peat moss It’s unholy You gave that guy a chance but the nursery might have done him dirty
Comment from : ANNE BROWN

Vithusan Velichore
« You don’t gotta go home but you can’t stay here »🤣🤣🤣damn sh*t was getting personal and lil too deep 🤣
Comment from : Vithusan Velichore

Amber Moore
The bottom is the part I keep If u cut to the sap, new leaves appear
Comment from : Amber Moore

cass
You clipped it to long and barky(😅)
Comment from : cass

ExposedRoot
After doing my research what I have learned is number one you only want to leave one to two leaves on each stand that you're trying to propagate Too many leaves gives the plant too much work It needs to focus on one to two Number two is to absolutely use rooting compound
Comment from : ExposedRoot

ExpectoPaturtle
Some plants just don't want to plant
Comment from : ExpectoPaturtle

Nanablue
Next fiddle you get give it a home and don’t move it, it will throw tantrum and drop leaves but new ones will grow Don’t give up 💚💚💚

Just Trying my Best
The leaves and plant look different depending on different needs and problems When the leavs shrivel up and brown like that, it usually means the plant is getting too much direct sunlight, because plants can have drastically different needs for sunlight, as well as just in general
Comment from : Just Trying my Best

Pearls & Jade
I’m a hair short of trashing my second try with a Monstera Adansonii After this I’m done! 😅😅😅
Comment from : Pearls & Jade

Yolanda
This happens to every monstera deliciosa I put in my home 😅 It's my absolute favorite plant out of all plants! But even when I do everything right, they die I have a monkey mask monstera (adansonii) and it's doing great! But I tried everything and the deliciosa doesn't like my home 😂 I tried all the different spots in my home, grow lights, always did a root check when I brought it home and when the plant shows that it's struggling I got special grow lights, special monstera food and treatment Different kinds of pots, watering with rain water only, checked for pests every week and still It's just not to be It pains me, but I won't buy any more monstera deliciosa I'll enjoy them at my friend's place and while visiting garden centers instead 😊
