My Philips Hue Bridge is not working with my Cox panoramic modem / router combo The third light just keeps blinking Have you heard of a lot of people having this issue? And is there a fix for this? Thanks Comment from : bigjohnw69 |
Only downside to Hue is you cannot backup your bridge So if you have an extensive Hue setup and the bridge dies… you are into a days work to re-set up everything I’m shocked after all this time there still isn’t a way to back everything up Comment from : Man-Bag Dammit |
The bridge suck balls i attached it to the router and powered it up and the third just keeps blinking and never goes solid and thus cant config the bride and the bulbs!? Comment from : Sergio Guerrera |
I’ll give you an example of why you may want Bluetooth……out of range of your WiFi I have that problem with my outdoor kitchen, I have a hue strip light and it’s the only strip light that operates via Bluetooth…hence you can operate with your phone Comment from : Kerry Todd |

Lots of third party products work unofficially with Philips Hue Such as the much more affordable Ikea smart bulbs Comment from : Anneke de Bruyn |

bought a 1600 lumen light bulb and I set the default to 4000k but it won't stick I even bought the bridge but they still turn on at a different color temperature over priced garbage can't even set color temperature in the app smh I'm so mad 😡 Comment from : Ai |
It’s ridiculously overpriced, there you go boys I saved you the money Comment from : Brone Ó Braonáin |

The benefit of Hue plugs is Zigbee - they just have such a great range I’ve a TP-Link smart plug in the garden and it’s got such weak range Comment from : SD |

Can you make us an updated video for this year on the product that you tested or know about that work with Apple HomeKit? I have seen you’ve had one 2 years and it’s amazing I think that would be great to be done again! Comment from : Adam F |
If i need to connect my extra Hue lights only to Phillips Ambilight TV, do i still need the "Hue Bridge?" Or Do I need "Phillips HUE HDMI TV SYNC BOX?" Or do I need the both? 🤔 thank you Comment from : Canturk Civelek |
5:36 recently, Amazon Alexa routines gained the ability to be triggered by Philips hue dimmer switches and other Philips hue controllers Comment from : Tech, Life, And More |
In my opinion the real problem with Phillips Hue is that it’s just too expensive when stacked side by side with those generic Chinese product You can claim that the Phillips products are high quality and that you’re paying for reliability, but I also think it’s possible to find the same quality with Chinese and taiwanese products, it’s just a little bit trickier to isolate which brands are high quality Basically I stay away from all the brands that apple puts in their store because they’re all overpriced simply because they got Apple’s blessing, which is ridiculous Comment from : Jesse Greathouse |
The surround lighting (hdmi sync) is the best part of Philips hue Why would you get all those lights if you don’t unlock their best feature? Comment from : SPASPAWIZ |
Philips Hue noob here Just moved into a new place and would like to get started with some home automation brSome people in the family never turn off lights so need to mitigate that to save energy I know there are tonnes of eco systems out there but hue seems like I won't encounter a roadblock later on Comment from : DAXimus |
Innovelli makes switches that can pair directly with Hue bulbs, and can be set to not cut power to the bulb… but you need to have Hubitat, SmartThings or HomeAssistant Comment from : MDD |
I love the Hue buttons, so much cuter than Aqara’s :) Comment from : mandypdx |
you dont need the hdmi sync box to use hue sync on a pc, you only need a hue bridge, hue sync compatible lights and an entertainment zone set up in the hue appbrI'd assume you only need the sync box for a TV or similar Comment from : BensCast Ben |
Sorry but no Don't even consider putting an internet router into the lighting equation Orders via a smartphone are almost useless if not to show off Moreover, the internet is becoming less and less secure, and your system will crash once a month It is much safer and more efficient to use lighting controls via radio controlled switches In addition, will Philips Hue exist in 3 years? Surely not and you would have done all this st for nothingbrIn addition, Phillips lightning was sold in 2016 What will its buyers do? An incompatible system most likely This is the way to proceed at the moment in all areas😢 Comment from : Axel Lambert |
thank you for video! Comment from : Jonáš Garaj |
Not sure how old this video is But can you use one dimmer switch as a master switch that will turn off all the lights in the house by the door for example? While still allowing room by room function? Comment from : Willow Huisman |
Hands dude! Too much hand movement in my face Good info and video though Comment from : TS |
No, thanks to Apple and Philips is just too much money, so I am out Comment from : Bob Wareham |
The outdoor range is great Sure not cheap but when you buy a few items at a time and add on, it transforms the outdoor space beautifully and works easily with a switch you can use to control (as well as your phone) Comment from : Joseph J |
Hue just works with everything, every time Automatically discovered in the home assistant, works with all the assistants: Alexa, Google, and Siri before Matter started to be a thingbrI replaced all my lights with Hue and I have 0 reasons to choose another brand Also, I have Philips The One and some light strips synced to it and it works perfectly Comment from : RACAPE |
Love all my hue lights, switches, light strips, and motion sensors We just bought a brand new Samsung 65” QN90B 4K TV I was surprised to find it had the Philips Hue Sync built in Pretty sweet to just download an app on the tv and sync lights No extra box to plug into tv Comment from : Dave |
Anything that has voice command has the ability to spy or listen to what's going on in range Why people willingly put these spying and eavesdropping devices in their home is crazy to me Comment from : 2020 MT-09 |

Do you think that people will regret buying into this right now as thread becomes more of the standard? Or do you think it will be fine regardless?brbrWill hue be able to update to thread with an over the air update? Or is it a hardware issue?brbrWill Hue continue to work seamlessly in my home even when my Wifi is down? Comment from : V U |
Hey, I have been facing a lot of connectivity issue Could that be because I do not have a bridge? Comment from : Hellobyebye! |
He doesn’t say why you shouldn’t use the bulbs with Bluetooth Comment from : Danny Allaica |

Too expensive Comment from : Hooman |
Eric, I couldn’t agree with you more about the Sync Last year, I had Best Buy install Hue lights throughout my home which I’ve used with Home Kit But I also had sync boxes attached to my TVs i the family room and master bedroom with the Hue Lightstrips The sync boxes were a disaster There were so many problems They constantly lost connection to the internet The TVs took forever to turn on because of them and in the case of the one in my master, took more than 2-3 minutes at times I got rid of them a couple of weeks ago and everything works well with the TVs again Comment from : Kevin Iole |
Something you're telling is not right : the Philips hue Botton ( the round rubbery one K ) does have multiple options I've been using it for years , the button in the hallway before I leave the house turns off all lights when I long press it :) Comment from : Pepijn Aerts |
Garbage doesn’t work Comment from : jeffery abulasan |

HUE makes great products, but the main drawback is that it's TOO D*MN EXPENSIVE I just looked on Amazon and a standard 60w color smart bulb is selling for $4634 Competing brands (CYNC, Govee, Cree, Sengled, Ikea, Kasa, etc) are selling them for around $15 The generic off brands are cheaper still - but I would steer clear of those because they likely won't be around 5 or 10 years from now if you need to replace somethingbrbrIn their favor, HUE has a huge assortment of products So if you're going all in, and price isn't a concern, it's a good choice All the name brand companies have the basics - bulbs, smart plugs, light strips, maybe a wall switch - but HUE has alot more 'specialty' products Personally, I went with GE CYNC It's a trusted name and has a good assortment, and also doesn't require a hub It's a solid option for those who want to spend less and still get good functionality I figure I spent about a third of what I would have with HUE maybe less Comment from : Stephen Cooper |
I like your skin Comment from : Jayson Malla |
Is there a way to fix it if u have a bolb that keeps coming on, I've got 3 setup in the light in my bedroom and every time I come in one of the bolbs is on and it's not even set to the color I had Comment from : Nick Edens |
LiFx are cheaper and don't need a stupid hub HUE works well but way over priced Comment from : Bob Trikakis |
For digibetics, this overview goes too fast I need a simple step by step review for beginners Comment from : TheMrBennito |
Btw, you can pair non Hue Zigbee bulbs with the Hue huband they are vastly cheaper I think I probably can also pair most other Zigbee devices (I haven't tested yet though)brbrNon Hue bulbs will NOT work with Hue Sync though However, there are 3rd party programs for Mac and Windows that will give you equally good light showsbrbrThis means that you have to watch movies through a computer connected to a TV But honestly, ya should be doing that anyway instead smart TVs for a ton of reasons Comment from : Ogden Michael |
Thanks for the review I just started converting the house to smart lighting and went with Hue because it seemed to get the most consistently positive reviews (minus the cost) I am running in to the issue of replacing "dumb" switches so we can still control the lights that way if we want Do you have a smart switch that you think works best with Hue? Comment from : Octavious Fignewton |
I have to disagree a bit I use switch modules throughout the my house (8 or so switches) and they work extremely well Granted, they must control all the lights controlled by that switchbut how many lights is that really? Generally, the room/zone is used with the Hue lights, so not really a big deal to use the module Comment from : Michael Nightingale |
So the "sticky pad" for motion sensors can damage a wall, but the screw for the Phillips Hue doesn't do any damage?! Lol - ok Comment from : scotty362100 |
I’ve been using devices bought more than six years ago when we lived at our old house All of it is still working I now have over 60 different Philips lights and accessories around my new home Comment from : Jamie Hoke |

I have Philips hue lights in about 90 on my house , and the home app is frustrating, sometimes lights are unreachable, at times automations don’t work Just frustrating Comment from : PRviewsvlogs |

What is your opinnion on IKEAs Dirigera? It could be more budgetfriendly option for Hue? Comment from : Tuomo Mäkitalo |
The lutron aurora dimmer looks like it may be the key to not having to rewire my ceiling fan in order to be able to dim the lights on it I can't use a regular dimmer with a ceiling fan motor so I would usually need an extra wire to control the lights and fan independently With the lutron I could leave power on, dim the hue lights, and control the fan with the pull chain as we've already been doing Dimmer and hue lights ordered :-) Comment from : Life Made Fun |
Some lights are coming up as Royal Philips hue electronics Can't get the to work Why Comment from : Jessie Miller |

12:39 "Philips Hue actually has a Huege collection of die-hard fans" ;) perhaps unintentional but still genius Comment from : Dovydas |

I have the square hue bridge and it does not work with apple home so there are older square bridges that are as useless as the round ones Comment from : Justin Kais |
I’d rather use Philips hue smart plugs because they run on Zigbee not Wi-Fi like Tp-link which Wi-Fi products are not as reliable Comment from : Trevor Stepoo |
I’m actually running 2 Philips hue hubs Comment from : Trevor Stepoo |
It looks like yours, Philips hue lights are more expensive in Illinois than here in Hawaii at the Home Depot Comment from : Trevor Stepoo |

If only they weren’t 4x the cost of Wiz light… Comment from : Jack HAMMER |
May I ask you about the brand of the standig lamp behind you? Comment from : Michael Schaarschmidt |
Over the last 7 years I’ve bought cheaper alternative smart bulbs on Amazon because Hue was so expensive I’ve used them over wifi with the smart home app My third set of bulbs just started failing and I finally bought a bunch of hue things to dive into the ecosystem They’re definitely way more expensive but I’m done with failed pairings (my wifi router is on a different floor), having to program every phrase through Siri to get it what I want to do (no Alexa or google built in), Siri sometimes not understanding the exact phrases I’ve said 100s of times etc excited for everything to get here! Comment from : musicfinder |
I love my Hue Sync! You didn't use it correctly You need the whole system It's expensive, but worth it Comment from : Max Media |
I bought Phillips Hue 8 or so years ago They were great, up until Phillips purposefully bricked all the Hubs to force people to buy their new Hub brbrI don't really care if it's faster, I was happy with my setup I won't buy from them anymore, too much risk they'll just stop supporting something because they want you to be a return customer Comment from : Timothy OSullivan |
I’m pretty sure I have out of home control set up on the bridge but can’t see ‘out of home control’ setting my iPhone app Comment from : yycgrandma |
Just got a new modem but unfortunately only has 3 slots for lan cable so i cant use my bridge anymore as not enough slots sux is there a work around for this or am i going to have to pack my lights away? Comment from : Doonastar |

I try to add a next hub with the same account and it doesn’t work it keep saying and a new account Comment from : Lenord Thom |
You didn't cover network requirements(hue account, zigbee, wifi?)! Do these products REQUIRE an internet account to work? local network is fine but "requiring" internet connection is not What about those that don't use the Apple ecosystem?brPS 03:50 "so you can control you bulbs when you're away from your home" I have to think about that one Comment from : jjdawg |
They make a lot of different size bulbs, they aren't cheap though Comment from : Brendan R |
As someone who uses the Hue light bar and strips on my monitor and theater setup, I absolutely love them For my monitor I just like having the extra light becuase I stay more enganged with what I am doing and feel more relaxed overall, and for my theater setup I have the gradiant lightstrip which I find awesome for movies but also I run an emulation station on it as well and it really provides a great experience to some old classics and makes everything just feel more enjoyable overall They are expensive and more of a novelty for most, but for those who spend a lot of time gaming or watching movies, you will have a blast! Comment from : Brett A |
Wish we could afford this Had to go with Cync :( Comment from : post-buttwave |
Great video! Being new to Hue, I appreciated the "products to avoid" part the most Thanks so much! Comment from : MershTube |
I have the Hue Sync and it has never worked right Random switching between inputs and not picking up active signals, and the latest thing its started doing is just randomly losing signal The only real miss in my hue collection Comment from : Jason Craft |
Love your videos! I understand it's not for everybody, but I have the HDMI Sync Box with a "proper" setup of a gradient strip behind the TV, to evenly spread the light, and two Play Bars on the floor beside the TV table for extra effect, and I personally LOVE it By far my favorite of all the Hue products I'm very sensitive to light, especially if there is a high contrast between a darker environment and a light source (it's weird, I know), and watching TV has been awful on my eyes for years, UNTIL I got the Sync Box It takes away the contrast in lighting when it matches what I see on screen (and for that only, it is worth it to me) AND I love how it adds to effects and "extends" the TV across my (white) wall You have to find the correct setting and balance of sensitivity and brightness that works for you, but once you do, it's absolutely amazing I don't use bulbs that are in clear view of my eyes as it can become very distracting Another good tip for a better experience is to turn the brightness down to match the TV brightness (or just a bit lower) so it's less distracting, and keep the sensitivity to just above middle, so it doesn't go off when i'ts not supposed to 😁 You don't want the light to take away from what is happening on the screen! Thank you for creating such amazing videos 😊 Comment from : Xander Cornelius Moy |
Does anyone know how to connect my hue lights to Spotify? Is a bridge necessary? Thanks! Comment from : Dean Stetzel |
The new gen dimmer switches SUCK DO NOT GET THEM UNLESS YOU JUST WANT A BASIC DIM FUNCTION the new hue button is so frustratingly limited in its configurability, if you want to set a scene your basically forced to use the time based light system and changing scenes with the hue button is unreliable and forced to use the time based light scenes The tap dial switch is amazing if you want to actually set colourful scenes Comment from : Brandon Oreto |
seems like some of the problems mentioned are caused by apple and not Philips Comment from : S A |
