I really used to read Sherlock Holmes since I was young, but the most interesting Sherlock Holmes among a lot of adaptations is the original Holmes! I cannot forget the moment when I first met Sherlock Holmes through the booksbrbrSummary of the video: The outfit of Sherlock Holmes comes from an initial illustrator; the curved pipe was derived from an American actor; and his famous phrase was made by author Wodehouse The origin of Sherlock Holmes is a real figure, Doyle's university mentor; however, as time goes on, enormous adaptations evolve the character of Sherlock Holmes into a variety of aspects Comment from : @user-ow4lg4wi1y |
4:31 Hi, Cumberbatch! ;) Comment from : @thomasecker9405 |
Vision to smoke a cigarette in awakening of 🌏 ok Comment from : @lakhbinderjitsingh7795 |
I love Jeremy Brett‘s Interpretation of Sherlock Holmes but the mannerisms and character of Basil Rathbone is also very close to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle’s description of SH Comment from : @melanypazmino7435 |
With every brand-new adaption, is a brand-new version of Sherlock Holmes He is all of them, therefore there is not one true Sherlock Holmes but every persona people have given to him all at the same time So, with every person, he can change For example, to Margaret, he may be the original The detective that Mr Arthur Conan Doyle created But to Lance, he is Enola Holmes' brother which works alongside her in solving a case Comment from : @cassidyvengco4582 |
"But still essentially Sherlock, our Sherlock" 🥰 Comment from : @topikbagusid |

No, you are wrong in saying during the first few minutes that Sherlock doesn't use his famous catchphrase of "Elementary my dear Watson" in the original works I have read the original works, and it is used quite often Comment from : @mrunankkuhikar5723 |
I’ve always considered Basil Rathbone the definitive Sherlock,he hits all the beats of the book, even when the timeline of the films stopped following the timelines of the books,in my opinion, this character is best portrayed by him,the chain smoking, hook nosed, intelligent and witty detective we all know and love Comment from : @Tekxyy |
United kache 💯😂 Comment from : @dhaka___ji1952 |
The 7 Percent Solution is a good depiction of Holmes addiction to drugs I liked the actor that played Holmes and the Sigmund Froud was a nice touch Comment from : @wesleycook7687 |
You just made a mistake Moriarty appears in 6 stories Comment from : @goodlife766 |
This is how i see it regarding who is Holmes: anyone is, it only takes some one to analyse and reason events in order to imitate Holmes’ methods However, in terms of Screenplay and cinematography, I’d say it’s RDJ, just for historical accuracies, for classic victorian theatrical Holmes it’d be Jeremy Brett, for Modern Theatrical Holmes of course Benedict Cumberbatch Damn, you can go deeper and say your favourite audiobook narrator of the short stories might resemble your favourite style of Sherlock Holmes (Magpie Audio/ Greg Wagland Springs to mind) it’s something akin too James Bond, everyone has their own preference, however, unlike James Bond, anyone can become A Holmesian type character Comment from : @Hascienda27 |
I know only one Sherlock,the one in the book , but i don't why I'm upset and annoyed i didn't like the video 🙂 Comment from : @msspeacesdiary8452 |
Jeremy Brett will always be the most accurate and best Holmes Comment from : @misterholmes221 |
Will the real Sherlock Holmes please standupbrI think were going to have a problem here Comment from : @Doogalebot12 |
"The Real Sherlock, please stand here!"brbrBenedict Cumberbatch, Robert Downey Jr, Arthur Conan Doyle Sherlock, and Jeremy Brett proceeds to try and solve who the real Sherlock is Comment from : @sherlockholmes6854 |
Basil rathbone Played the best Sherlock Holmes Comment from : @jamesauber8622 |
House MD, probably my fav Holmes Comment from : @bigcedarranch |
I love this phenomenon, you can see it also in Dracula and captain hook and I'm sure others I do think movies and TV are the force that adds the biggest changes to how people start to remember a character The "Pirate accent" comes from an old movie I'm correct? Comment from : @piyam5948 |
You forgot to mention Mrs Hudson isn't his housekeeper Even in the original canon she was his landlady, not housekeeper In one story he does call his housekeeper but usually she's his landlady Comment from : @amandapike2477 |
My Sherlock Holmes hot take for the day:brbrJeremy Brett is the most accurate and timeless, amazing work, chefs kissbrbrOld Soviet Holmes is a very good adaptation, i like Brett for his accuracy and the Russian show for its creativity I still need to finish watching it tho Oop brbrRDJ does NOT WORK as Sherlock Holmes They took two genres that don’t fit too well together and idk I just didn’t like it at all brbrAnd BBC… it had its run in my life, I’m not gonna lie I’m personally sick of it overstating the fanfiction 😂😂 I just want Victorian Holmes please brbrAlso I only saw one Enola Holmes and didn’t prefer the narration choice, but that’s just me I thought it tried too hard to be what it tried to be lol brbrAll that being said this is just my opinion of these adaptations, and I’m happy for people who love them!! We are all Sherlockians here <3 Comment from : @aspiringcreativeperson6092 |
Although I have enjoyed several actors playing Holmes, Jeremy Brett was the most faithful to the books and he was terrific in the role Comment from : @joecook8352 |
The only Sherlock Holmes I know is Robert Downey Jr Comment from : @deepuyangala464 |
Basil rathbone had such an influence on writers post 1940/50s that a lot of media references Holmes by referencing rathbone Disney’s Basil of Baker Street is an obvious reference but the character of ratty in Disney’s Mr Toad is dressed to resemble Rathbones Holmes (as Rathbone was the narrator) Comment from : @pallasathena1555 |
I do love book Sherlock though, but its cool people have made different takes on him Comment from : @TroubledTrooper |
Though the exact sentence "elementary my dear Watson" doesn't appear in Doyle's work, "elementary" alone is sometimes used by Holmes to qualify some of his conclusion, for instance in "The crooked man" : "Excellent!" I (Watson) cried "Elementary" said he (Holmes) Comment from : @enomiellanidrac9137 |
"making him perhaps the most adapted fictional character in the world" --if you don't count the Abrahamic God, Jesus Christ, the Greek or Roman pantheon not that this discourages the point made here, Holmes is a palimpsest, surely, but all that separates him from the gods of old is that, like Robin Hood, Dracula, or Superman, we recognize him as fictional Comment from : @MegaBunnyd |
Sherlock is the detective we need, but not the one we deserve Comment from : @rshipley21 |
I have a strong feeling in an alternate reality (SHERLOCK HOLMES) might exist for real in it Comment from : @briandaleske5139 |

Comment from : @ChanwooPark-me1wc |
