Played consistently for a year, didn't know you could queue priority tasks lol Comment from : K61r |
My main problem was always "too much work, too few people"brEven if I made ONE building at a time and tried to make as few work tasks as possible, it always felt like there was never enough people for everythingbrMy main mistake when I started, I thought I would grow my colony by immigration, all I had to do was make a couple of buildings with beds, have enough food and clothes and they would come to me, it took me 2 plays and a YT help to find out about converting prisonersbrSo that would be my number bONE/b tip: 10:22 is the start of bTHE/b most important part of this video Comment from : Mikkel |
Love your colonist names Comment from : Eton Jim Productions |

Another tip is to set the anything clothing allowance to mpre tham 51, less than 100 This will make colonists auto dequip tattered apperal, unless forced Comment from : TheMachine |
Great video, subscribed Comment from : imopman |
Also, the prison comments are a it outdates, especially if you're playing with ideologybrIf you want to convert prisoners faster and easier, the more decrepit the prisons, the easier it will be to convert, and better chances for crisis of faith (it slows down faith recovery the more miserable they are) Comment from : Juan cho |
DO NOT use Glitterworld Medice AT ALLbrit really is only useful to help with the hard surgeries like heart, and other vital organs, and in case you wanna try a beat an untreated infection or disease that you've let go There's a couple diseases that can only be cured with glitterworld medicine, and it is an ingredient to craft some powerful pieces Comment from : Juan cho |
The only thing i learned after my 2500 hours of play time is that i should have never started playing cuz now i cant stop Comment from : Hawty_Hans |

3:25brYou can press "shift" and click on a job with LMB to adjust priority for ALL the colonists instead of clicking it one by one Comment from : Dr AntiBitching |

One of the biggest things in still struggling with as a new player Is why my colonists will simply not move some itemsbrbrI have a dump storage area set for raw materials It's half full of shelves, half open space there are clearly empty spots for more items, but some things the colonists refuse to pick up even if they have been there since the start of the gamebrbrI also made a storage on the edge of the map, dedicated to dumping corpses in so my colonists wouldn't constantly get negative mood from walking past our fallen enemies Maybe 1/3 of the corpses are actually delivered there, leaving the base covered in bones that i can't interact with And I'm unable to get my colonists to move any of the bodies because it says there's no available room But over 90 of the storage area is empty??! If you are raided and your pawns don´t have any weapons, you can always use a wood log as one, it´s not good but it´s better that fist brAlso, use the terrain to your advantage Rivers are great because they slow your enemies and doesn´t provide them cover, but other terrain (like swamps) are also great in this regard and while you always want to fight in a fortified position, if you are force to move trees and rocks can be used as cover Finally, if you have another danger in your map (like insects or mechs), it´s a good idea to try your enemies fight one another, but be wary because bad timing and/or placement of your pawn may easily backfire Comment from : Leonardo Sepúlveda |
Why is that game so complex ? Doesnt look like a good strategy for attracting new players Comment from : Dragunajj |
im brand new to rimworld after watching a couple playthroughs and challenges, and i was so confused as to why my passive cooler didnt seem to be working in my first base i had no idea that they were supposed to go on the INSIDE of buildings/rooms, NOT the outside like the other cooler seemed to Comment from : turtle1014 |
Such a helpful and satisfying lesson video! tysm! Comment from : Chloe Webb |
My only tip that I would like to add is: "There is a lot of >Quality of Life< mod in Steam Workshop, which make your game experience more smoothly" Comment from : Northmaniack |
Don´t miss the Drugs Tab Smokeleaf can raise your Mood but it will slow down the whole work of the Colonist But with a few adjustments you can use them as great Way to make lots of Money out of it brSmoKeleaf and Psychite Tea are easy to build, very light to carry in Caravans, and give a good amount of Money So you can get your Hands on better Stuff Like TV, Blueprints, Gold (with Roaylity a must have) and Arcotech Level upgrades Comment from : Alyath77 |
THANK YOU Comment from : One _E |

And specifically tips for making her survive incase if she got down and cannot heal herself? Comment from : Sweez |

Started playing rimworld recently and this video clarified some things, so thanks mate! Comment from : Domo |
I like how one comment says to not be picky because this a story generator, and the very next comment says to be picky because the game is hardbrbrTwo different types of players Comment from : Brandon |
This is probably something you've learned since, but I saw you manipulating the priorities - if you hit shift and click on the work type, you can change all colonists' priorities at once, so you don't need to take everyone to 1 individually Comment from : Banana Slamma |
One thing ive never heard anyone actually say yet, you can make your rooms impressive by filling them with flowers My first room is usually a big area with with the beds and a storage area, half is storage zone the other is flower growing zone Keeps them trained on plants and not throwing a fit because it makes the room extremely beautiful Comment from : PresidentDwayneElizondoMountainDewHerbertComacho |
I just installed it so I am watching this first Comment from : element bloods |
This video is great but one little thing you could do better, you mentioned some things that slow work down, one you mentioned about 6 minutes in was lighting, you said it slows work down but you didn’t specify by how much, maybe it’s just me but it would be great if you were to specify the modifying number, thank you so much though, this video is really really good Comment from : Barack Obama |
Great video! I’ve been playing rimworld for 6 months now and I’ve definitely learned a lot of stuff over time but u talked about stuff I never even thought of, u should fs keep making content like this Comment from : JD |
One tip I recommend if you’re coming into rimworld, don’t watch videos like this until you’ve played your first few games! brSo much of the fun of rimworld is trying to figure out what the hell is happening, don’t spoil that for yourself so soon! Comment from : NattyNuke |
You should also gap your growing zones by at least 4 tiles, if not more, it'll help with blight Comment from : Robert White II |
6:35 : there is no fire risk in rimworld, at least without mods You can put as many torches as you want However this is work to cut down trees and refill the torches so it's still better to put electric lampsbr14:00 : if there is no more hostiles on the map you can click on the door and claim Allowing your pawn to walk through it Comment from : Scypio |
Your video was clear, straight to the point, and helpful Thank you Comment from : Craig |
Sorry for writing 2 comments in 1 video but I learned something by following one of your tips that I thought was interesting, when you tell someone to do something with the right click you can hold shift and que priority's in that order I told him to build the 3 beds first with it Comment from : LazyJoeBeard |
the first 2 tips already helped, you get a like Comment from : LazyJoeBeard |

reserach bench with prisioners, to bost both morale Comment from : Abel Narada Camacho Kempen |
This game does look great But for a 2013 Indie game the price tag seems a bit much IDK about other countries, but in mine it's around the same price as RDR2brEDIT: With all DLC it's like 100USD wihtout discount I know it looks like it's worth many hours of fun, but it does seem a bit greedy to charge that much for an indie game many years after release Comment from : T0mN7 |
For priorities I'd suggest setting things to priority 2 that you want a colonist to focus on, and save priority 1 for emergencies Reason for that is the way a pawn decides what to do is if goes left to right through the queue for each numerical value So by having main tasks set at 2, anytime you need something done out of priority order, you just flip that thing to 1, and you don't have to micromanage the pawn constantlybrbrOne newb trap I see a lot is over focusing your pawns on a single task, usually resource gathering Early on your pawns need to be doing multiple things, and they can't afford to completely specialize If you just have one guy only build, one only do plants, and one just hauling / mining or something, that can help you gather a large amount of resources, but it also means you aren't crafting, you aren't researching, and all you're really doing is building up your wealth score so that the raiders are eventually going to out scale you So you really need to find that balance between gathering, expansion and development, and ideally you always keep spare resources / items to a minimum Comment from : Abyssionknight |
I found jungles with their year round growing season to be quite nice as a start location Just have a pawn who knows plants and make a 5x5 healroot field as soon as you start Comment from : Le parfum du gros boss |
you can claim everything on the map when you kill the rest of the pons when your raiding and you won't have to break in Comment from : Cali Bro |
Comment from : Sam Wheeler |

i recommend looking into the DLCs as well, can really spice up your gameplay! Comment from : GandalfTheLit |
Shelving is S tier for storage When I first started playing I never used them just made a stock zone in a room and dumped stuff on the floor Shelves hold three stack of anything: 75 units of rice X 3 or X 3 marine armors Single and double shelves Having a shelf set to critical store with your best textiles next to your tailor bench increases production, same goes with your other basics like steel, plasteel, components etc for armor and guns at the fab and machining table Set your production tables to Drop on Floor let your unskilled pawns worry about hauling Comment from : Gryphon |
Mods, what's the mod list, what's your take on the DLCs Comment from : Dominic Ryan Osborne |
I personally have never seen a bad event related to a campfire or a torch causing a fire The big problem with those is that people have to refuel them, which can cause a lot of lost time Also, I do recommend you start with rice, yes, but change/start working on corn later after you reach a reasonable buffer Corn demands much less work from the colonists Which, if you have few colonists, is a big hassle: can take a lot of your time Comment from : Alex |
Really helpful man, thank you I just started my first file and an hour i realize I’ve done everything wrong 😅😂 excited to start again knowing this now Comment from : HoelscherFIT |
Just curious about the single large building choice I have never seen anyone do that stratagy Comment from : Matt Munroe |
Pro tip! Butcher outside (preferably on dirt) to minimize bloody messes also minimizes cleanup detail after butchering Comment from : James M |
More! Comment from : Evolutional |
Having a colonists you can lose is valuable I usually keep a colonists or two for cleaning and hauling I keep them in a separate dwelling with their own recreation and dining They are the first line of defence Little effort is made to save these colonists Comment from : David |
Did you say to upgrade from torches to standing lamps to reduce the risk of fires? I don't think I have ever seen a fire started due to torches wasn't aware this is a thingbrAnother thing to note when talking about walls, Metal walls are also flammable Comment from : CoffeeTwitch4 |
Roofing can only extend 6 tiles away from a supporting wall so an enclosed space (interior dimensions of 13x13 cannot be fully roofed) This can be important when digging out areas that have natural roofs or replacing walls (If you remove the last support for a roof, that roof will collapse, damaging or destroying what it lands on, sometimes killing an animal or pawn) Comment from : Scott Burton |
