Thai people are afraid to speak out against this military ruled government They took power The police and military are disconnected from there own people To a point were the police will extort for locals who are trying to run a business Thai's can't be vocal in public about their distaste for the current fake government The military and police only answer to their highers and are thorn from their family's leaving them cold and uncaring I seen this first hand whilst in thailand Anytime you see either police or military you get concerned Many stupid comments here with lack of actual experience on the matter Thailand is different than its neighbours due to its push for tourism (outside money) however it's leadership is beyond fucked

Very concise and accurate caption here I should also add that this pattern has been repeated countless times in the past few decades There's one person who really plays a pivotal role in all of these, The King,who is also like the guardian angel of this country; one of his unwritten role is to nod or shake his head to the coup leaders The armed forces are always acting on his majesty's behalf, that's the foundation principle of this country But they also play this extra role--still on his behalf--of removing extremely corrupt government which the system fail to expel Yes Thailand is governed democratically and have elections, but until the rural people can get over electing governments that buy their votes and corrupt the hell out of people's taxes The coup is still an instrument of last resort, it's like a unique way of balancing power between the branches of government So in Thailand we have the Legislative, the Executive, the Judiciary as well as the extras--the Monarchy and the Army Get it??

That was a good summary of the situation but forget to mention that the red shirt protest in 2008 burned many buildings and hijack a big gas truck to close down a street in some of the streets they chose to put themselve into and that was really close to my house If there is no coup now, OMG can't imagine what will happen this time
