Kids love calling everyone neophobic, but hey, it was tons of punk-rap stuff before Carti, like for the whole 30 last years His team is just better at promoting it to make it reach people who aren't interested in music at all so any of such stuff feels groundbreaking for them You could start with Beastie Boys, Handsome Boys School, Death Grips, Yeezus, Cherry Bomb, Sosmula/Zillakami - actually a lot of people who made the same stuff years before Carti He even hired few people and pushed them to make the same music as he is to make everyone think that he's a great influencer lol Still appreciate all of his albums and Lonely/Carson's stuff, it's just a continuation of the wave, not a start
