Just FYIbrHe did bureaucratic work in auschwitz He voluntarily transferred to the frontline in 1944 to get away from the horrors of auschwitz He was outed because 40 years later he spoke out against holocaust deniers It’s easy to say he or any other officer could have refused to follow orders The “I was only following orders” is true for anyone who’s not in the top brass Punishing him in the 1950s or 1960s or even up till the 2000s would have made some sense But looks like the German government wanted to prove it was not anti semitic anymore and decided to try to jail a 93 year old The 4 year prison sentence is proof this was all just for show Eventually after many appeals he died in a hospital, not having been sent to jail yet Comment from : Ameya Wadekar |
