Intelligence plays a huge factor in study success Studying, which includes memorising, recalling, understanding, problem-solving etc takes a hell lot of time The smarter kids will spend less time grasping a difficult concept, so they get a huge headstart It makes sense that only the best students should attend a medical school, or any of the more difficult disciplines to get a qualifying degree Without the right IQ, the best studying methods can only do so much Comment from : Deckard |

I studied by writing everything on my hands, arms, legs My preferred way of studying Comment from : brian guta |

Very early in college, small section in a psychology book on studying using the SQ3R method:
br Studying: read section heading, notes under pictures, maybe read first and last paragraph,
br Questioning: guess what you are going to read If correct, you already go it If wrong, it will stick out
br Read, read the chapter as normal,
br Review immediately mentally review what you just read in your mind
br Recite, the spaced repetition as needed, hour later, two hours later, day later, week later, month later
brThis take about the time of reading the section twice, but increases long term memory from 5 to 50 Comment from : Osman Vincent |

When I was in the twenty, I took the subject of anatomy and physiologybrI have to memorize all the human anatomy partsbrThat time I was wondering how am I going to remember the word mastoid processbrI found out the word mastoid process is derided from mast as mastectomy because the shape is looked like the human breastbrAfter that whenever I pay attention to that bone behind the ear, I would recall right away as mastoid process Comment from : Cimon Kien |

The worst problem is that the references for tests are not obviously clear and also a high percentage of questions are about scarce and low important subjects, most of the time there is no way to learn and organize the contexts and we have to memorize them Comment from : mohammad khakinahad |

Thank you! I have used these strategies before; but what I never have understood was: If you are using a program like Anki to study for a test like a licensing exam which has multiple topics should you separate each topic? and study only that section for the day? and when you mention short study sessions should you do multiple repetitions of the same information throughout the day I have approximately 3 months/(24 hours a day) to study 8 topics I can't figure out how many cards I should attempt to get through in a day vs in a session (I have been out of school a while) Thanks Comment from : nic c |

There are three license levels for Amateur Radio in the US For the first two licenses, I read the books, many times along with studying the questions Did well but found the material difficult The third license and by far the most difficult, comes from a pool of over 700 questions I used a online study program for it It constantly tested me and remember the wrong answers and kept asking them I studied one hour each morning After about five weeks I took the test and breezed through it The methods outlined in this video work Comment from : Terry Steward |

Most interesting! In high-school I was a rote learner In Nursing school, realize, now that I'm retired, that I developed some of the techniques especially diagrams Self testing and writing up those diagrams while thinking them through Reading what I could not remember and self test again However, pharmacology, I feel I needed a little more rote learning and a lot of self testing And, of course, when working, there was the good old CPS to help out! Comment from : Doreen Whitehead |
|
When you test yourself, how do you know what questions to ask yurself? How do you know you're asking questions relevant to the material? Comment from : Chris H |

So why are some texbooks still still being written with minuscule amounts of review question Only medical and health books have a large variety of review and test questionsbr No one teaches students how to study in high school or university So how did individuals lean to study to be able to get high marks or get into medical or health areas Were you naturally good at organization, time management and had calendar from the 6th grade I went through the whole of university without using a planner It wasn't a academically demanding programArts-humanities,brI had ADHD of some sort of , I just call it that as I wasn't able to study for long periods or carry a large course load Some people do it all plus work part time Comment from : Zoch Buppet |
