I was rolling my eyes at about the 40th minute mark What I think Simon fails to consider is that the "unprofessionalism" the Gen Z seem to exude may stem from them seeing their parents or older siblings being mistreated at work Companies no longer care about their employees — especially the ones at the bottom of the pyramid Change needs to happen from the top down, but what I'm hearing is that Simon seems to expect change to happen from the bottom up

This is a fascinating segment, and I find Simon Sinek's perspectives as clear and insightful as ever; on the topics of mindset as privilege, Generation Z being probably the least resilient generation I'm a millennial with a smart Generation Z on my team, and while I agree with the point about their resilience, it's safe to say that it really depends on the individual's mindset and personal circumstances For some, resigning is an easier solution than navigating troubled waters in a highly demanding work environment

On the topic on young people do not endure stress well compared to older generation, and they keep quitting at their jobs As a young person, I always wanted to find a job I could stick with and make it my life's work I have quit several survival jobs, even jobs in the health care industry because my goals don't align with why I am dedicating so much time to build this other person's dream and company I want to sample different work cultures and gain work experiences in order to find the job suitable for my unique skill sets In the pursuit of the purpose of life and one's life work, is it considered weak-minded to gain work experiences in the fastest way? Considering our work culture of 9-5 or even 12 hour shift work didn't really exist back in the days? And the time people used to dedicate towards work is either family related or for a cause like war, stocking up on food before famine or winter hits

I disagree that your 'Why' is always being set in childhood and is always positive Your 'Why' can be based on more than childhood experiences (Eg The cancer experience of a loved one in later life)brAlso, unfortunately, some peoples' childhood experiences can create bigger 'why not' fears that hold them back more than the positive 'whys' that propel them forward Also, some people have revenge as their negative 'why'

They're talking about mindset, but I think what he's really getting at is resilience And there are psych studies that show that how resilient someone is can be effected by genetics Or the epigenetics of trauma Trauma actually effects our DNA and its effects can be passed down to the 3rd and 4th generation Research of descendants of Holocaust survivors shows this So one can actually inherit resilience and be predisposed to recover better from hardship and maintain a better mindset about it, in addition to the cultural capital of what they've had modeled for them
