Annoying, confuse video with a confused, hesitate machine guy BUT! You can found the exact strap codes with SRBPolarisV35 The GPUz is not shows it well SRBPolarisV35 does (even with unsupported card rom But DON'T try swapping with SRBPolaris on unsupported card, 'cause make shit rom!!! Use the HEX method instead)

hellbendert35
so memory timing overclock can only be done by modifying the bios of the gpu?
Comment from : hellbendert35

Goldenhordemilo
yea super easy lol reminds me wen i brourght 3 9800gt with bad bios en up in sli thanks to a stricker extreame i am working on a his hd6870 right as i type lol

If you want the best timings just grab the recommended mining ones for the specific memory chips, usually they allow best frequency while still tight

Man, I'm new to this stuff and it's seemingly a ton to take in Thanks to Gamer's nexus for featuring you so much brbrI'd love to see what could be doing with my two sapphire triX 280Xs sitting in my old fx system and my current PC devil/sapphire triX 390X 4770k system brbrI'd imagine not a ton, but would be fun to learn how to do it

Have you ever successfully upgraded the amount of VRAM on any graphics card? For example, transforming a 2GB card into its 4GB variant, 3GB card into its 6GB variant or 4GB card into its 8GB variant (assuming the PCB and GPU core are the same between the two cards and that, if necessary, you can flash the VBIOS to convince Windows/the card that it is the higher-end variant) I'm just wondering because I was researching it earlier and while several threads/videos claimed it was possible with certain cards (like the 2GB GTX 970), I could find no references to anyone actually doing so and succeeding and I figured if anyone had done this/could do this, it would be you given all the hardcore modding you do

GPU-Z has the right values, but it is omitting a lot of 0's If something is "02", it just does "2" if something is "00", it does "0" If it is "50", it'll do "50" It's real fucky like that :(

This is pretty awesome stuff here I had a lot of trouble trying to use HxD when I was playing around with bios modding a R7 240 so I will be definitely be keeping this guide as a reference
Comment from : shellashock

Deaod
GPU-Z prints the hex string byte-by-byte, but doesnt force each byte to be converted into two characters So while 80h would get displayed as "80", 09h will get displayed as "9" Basically, the string youre looking at in GPU-Z is not reliably searchable in a dumped BIOS
Comment from : Deaod

cracklingice
There is a tool in the mining community that allows you to modify many if not all of the timings on modern AMD cards without having to flash the BIOS
Comment from : cracklingice

Niklas
You can just download the bios in GPU-Z, thats easier brbrAnd does this work without patching the BIOS signature for the graphics driver? Atleast for my RX 480 I have to patch it with "atikmdag" after every driver updatebrbrAs a memory benchmark I use OCL Membench, but it's not always exact Also it can't be used as a stress test, but you probably don't care about stability too much :D

HXN BXBN
FIRST you can tweak memory timings on VEGA :D githubcom/Eliovp/amdmemorytweak @actuallyhardcoreoverclocking
Comment from : HXN BXBN

kiaas
There's a new program called amdmemorytweak that can change memory timings for polaris and vega at runtime, ie you don't need to mod the vbios to change memory timings

25 extra performance using my rx 590@2250 (stable) /w 1500MHz timings vs 2000MHz timingsbrbralso unlocked the memory frequency limit and pwr limit form the bios so 1770MHz core@131 /2355MHz mem @1500MHz timings:br hwbotorg/submission/4111783_hidde663_geekbench4___compute_radeon_rx_590_175708_pointsbrbrim using gpuz for saving the bios, polarisbioseditor 167 for modding and atiwinflash (latest version) for flashingbrbrmy msi rx 570 did 1425 MHz straps for roughly 27 extra, also fully unlocked(memory is still trash tho, 1920MHz stable):brthis one is @1540core/2087 mem /w 1425MHz timingsbr hwbotorg/submission/3869552_hidde663_geekbench4___compute_radeon_rx_570_148792_pointsbrbrmemory strap modding did not change the overclocking headroom for both cards, neither did the "memory voltage" No hard volt mods on both cards, both on air btw

i loved bios moddingbronce tryed to mod a gtx 650m bios (laptop) , turned out the bios was on the same bios chip as the mainboard bios, didnt go well

Interesting video would this work on HD7970 ?

hikeran1994
I am no expert but i think your method is obsolete (for the Polaris cards at least) There is a wattman button memory timing lvl 1 & 2 also there are bios editing tools (srbpolaris) which make strapping a breeze
Comment from : hikeran1994

Christian Ivarsson
Hxd has problems with nibbles when searching If you for example search for 777 it'll often assume the last nibble is 0 (0x7770) Same problem if you start in the middle of a byte, it'll go wonkers with the search result :) Always search using an even number of digits and always start from an even nibble and it'll play nicely :)
Comment from : Christian Ivarsson

fastcx
In last few drivers update, there's option to choose memory timing aggressiveness for more recent cards (not sure about Vega, Polaris definitely has it), is it using the same method (without actually touching bios)? Choosing timing 1 will improve your bandwidth at the cost of not much memory oc headroom, while timing 2 or auto just sticks with stock memory timing straps
Comment from : fastcx

Alexey Elesin
You can use jYABE to mod bioses too, it's a bit more convinient br wwwoverclocknet/forum/67-amd/1637422-wip-early-release-jyabe-yet-another-bios-editor-still-not-finishedhtml

before GCN, with the older card was AMD using fixed timings for memory or a similar scheme?

Eskimos24
Hi buildzoid, My hd7850 is right at 1500mhz, do you know if it's running with the 1375mhz timings(the straps in gpu-z are 1375mhz,1500mhz and 1750mhz)? Would dropping the memory by 5mhz make it perform better?
Comment from : Eskimos24

Eli Kirkwood
I have a sapphire r9 270x with an msi gts 250 heatsink on it (its a direct bolt on suprisingly) it has really bad memory artifacting above 1000mhz but i think a voltage mod would fix that Any chance of a tutorial on that?
Comment from : Eli Kirkwood

integral
I made a program that makes editing memory timings much easier: githubcom/integralfx/BIOSTimingsEditor

Zonther
I only have 1 GPU so I can't do this but I did copy your method on copying the BIOS on the GPU to see it will work with my RX580 Thank you for this video! I will go back to it if I buy a new GPU to see how far I can push this one! Best score on Time Spy I got was 5136 CPU R7 2700X 44GHz all cores GPU 1540 MHz core 2250 MHz mem RAM 3200 MHz CAS14 (Running X370 Taichi) I was only able to do this once because I think I had my room that the PC was in down to 12C and all my fans set to 100

Артём Кучеренко
thx for all that you doing Can you show how correct doing undervolting (fixing offset GPU voltage) using HEX editor (field of interest 5xx series)brPS also interesting changing fan curve from bios for rx590, can`t find how, from WattMan if you change somth, videocard stops using "ZeroFan" mode and minimal value set to 18
