I've been eyeing the A90(D) for some time as an upgrade to the 789 but I think I've pretty thoroughly crossed the A90 off my list I don't want anything that "imparts" anything to the music Hearing that the A90 is warmer and has smoother treble is an instant disqualification I do all the "tuning" of my system by changing the transducer at the end of the chain brbrIn terms of power, for some reason I had it in my head that the 789 was 1 watt at 32ohms but after learning it can do 6 watts at 32ohms (balanced) I will probably never need to upgrade for power sakebrbr789: Possibly one of the best amps ever made

Mate really appreciate the details you've suggested - but question: how important is the source for this stack? Eg would there be a massive difference between say a higher end Astell & Kern vs a a standard iphone as a bluetooth source?

hi, thanks for the review I recently buy a second hand d90 and it get really warm I've tested it on pre and dac mode, stocked and not stocked In all scenarios it get hot There's something wrong with the unit? Should I try to return it?

Hi there I have a questions with regard to my chain I use to be very technicality-above-everything in my mindset , until I heard musical equipment and sold most of my technical stuff and stuck to my ZMF VC and Meze Elite I have an Ifi pro Ican as my amp , and I have a D90 as my DAC Do you have any recommendations for my chain specificallu DAC related ? I want to enjoy my music the most and think the D90 might be the 'boring' part of my chain Thanks in advance

Hi kinda need help, care to help via email ? How could you tell which solid state amp is high impedance output or low impedance output ? But the thing is high impedance output amp rated at 100mw at 600 ohms is lower than low impedance output amp rated at 200 mw at 600 ohms makes you pounder the difference If so, how to tell whether an amp is high impedance output or lower impedance output ? That is the question of solitary Anyway, is the A90 for instance a power ful amp but low impedance output ?

The A90 issue with IEM's does not exist for me, I only use IEM's outside when I am working or walking and I have a nice Predator DAC/Amp from Ray Samuels, a sweet little portable with a lifetime warranty, and the battery lasts for days and days I would be using The A90 with my Sundara's and my Amperiors, my Predator struggles a little with my Sundaras and I have tried the headphone out on my Emotiva TA1 but I really want a fully balanced amp to connect to my Denafrips Ares II, I have my speaker setup working really well at the moment and don't listen to my headphones daily, but I will once I get a balanced amp, the better preamp options is always a plus but not a major requirement

This stack of D90SE snd A90 is too clean and lean for my likening However, it seems to work great with XDuoo TA-26 tube amp with the D90 se and when I use my iFI zen (Burr Brown chips) and my TA-10;(using AK chips) as a DAC and the A90 as amp So I am keeping this stack with individual strengths to match up with my other DACs and amps It’s hard to just sell them because the A90 is a powerful amp and the D90se is a powerful DAC

Hello, thank you for your review and I realise this is an older video, however I have a question - Is the 'Topping D90 MQA DAC and A90 Headphone Amp' stack still a viable option nearing 2022, or would you be better off just buying the 'DX7 Pro'? Just trying to understand if there would be a benefit in spending approx AU$2,200 for the stack, when the single integrated DX7 Pro can be bought for approx AU$1,000 I noticed they use the same DAC chip, so just wondering what would be the more sensible purchase? Logically, I would think the DX7 Pro, however just wanted to ask - thanks
