If you are a white straight guy I recommend lying and saying you’re trans Also, you have to tell them you think the affordable care act has been a good thing There are typical screening questions that these schools use to weed out conservatives Went to med school 22 years ago and the questions they ask now are even more exclusive My question for the med schools is now that most are 50 percent woman or more are they training more docs because female physicians typically work half the hours their male colleagues do five years after graduating residency

Basically, if you're non-Jewish white, no matter your high gpa and high MCAT, you're getting rejected White privilege, even though non whites are actually the ones who grow up privileged, fully supported by their parents and the government, never having to work odd jobs to supplement school costs If you're a non-Jewish white male, absolutely forget it, unless you're Mormon and attending BYU IMG is a possibility But that will be corrupted soon also So all the high performance rejects will end up Chiropractors or choose another field Total scam

Conventional medicine is horrible I think those wanting to go into medicine should bring innovation and challenge the medical system Our medical system needs repair and a new model or to be completely deconstructed and rebuilt I think medical students should question the system of their schooling and what they are being taught You really have to have compassion to be a good doctor Diseases have a root cause, be a doctor who is curious and not a doctor who treats symptoms Don’t be brainwashed by your medical schooling The medical system wants blind followers who don’t question much and do what they are told Please don’t be a sheeple doctor A lot of doctors who do speak out on our inadequate medical system are made to look like they are the ones “loosing” it but in fact they are the ones with real solutions For Profit Health organizations are madly deceitful Either doctors know this and don’t care or they are under the spell of the system and lack the ability to question things and think for themselves

Too many Females are currently getting into US Medical Schools today More than half of the students are women and they will cause huge shortages of male doctors in the future Many men and women have no desire to go to a Female doctor Many female doctors will work less in their careers than male doctors and thus create a shortage

I think it is important to note that premed is not an academic major - there seems to be a lot of confusion “Premed” students are saying they intend to go to medical school, and will take appropriate classes to prepare themselves But their actual degree will be in an academic field - biology or another science is a popular choice The good thing about this is that if you don’t end up with an MD, you have another degree to fall back on

Overlooked??I would sooner say, anyone can spit and spew out anything that is wrong with politicsas they'd do the same with medical students that are sooner overlooked and not rejected because the world is full of medical schools and can stand to open half a million more and perhaps do a better job

Not a doctor here I will share an anecdote This is about Canadian schools and leans heavily into #2&4 As an outsider to "pre-med", while it was overwhelmingly the response I heard from fellow 1st yr uni students about their program, it's also an absurd thing to hear almost as absurd, granted less scary, as little people running around saying they are "pre-law" Might as well say, regardless of the degree, "I'm pre-life", or more cynically, "i'm pre-important" (Note, to all the proto-fascists I didnt say "pro-life") So yeah, got to hear LOTS of stories about people applying to, getting accepted or rejected into a medical school Few surprises about a particular set of people who applied of not getting in, ie, no brainer they would be accepted given who the individuals were Conversely, and overwhelmingly as of applicants, the same That category included individuals with the highest GPA & MCAT scores Im certain they were robots covertly developed by the engineering program Lastly, if you're applying because of your parents, you will be miserable and fail your patients Anyways, good luck

I'm German aiming to get into an Austrian MedSchool and the acceptance rate is like 8-12, but you only have to do great on one test and you're in, no premed or whatever, so wish me luck next year!

I wanted to share my story I was rejected 3 years in a row for med school No good feedback from adcoms 33 on MCAT 36 GPA with Masters in Pharm Eventually got accepted to DO school Currently finishing intern year in Anesthesiology at large academic center in SE Dream big and persevere yall

I have a 391 AMCAS GPA with a 394 sGPA, a 518 MCAT, research pub (which wasn’t anything huge tbh it was some tiny thing but STILL) and volunteer experience as well I applied to 28 schools and got rejected by 27 I have one waitlist and that’s it While it’s sucks, I know it must have been an issue with my personal statement

Funny how different it IS in Brazil Im a 5th year med school student and we enter med school straight from high school throught a test that the applicants take Some colleges have as much as 5000 people taking the test for 80 spots But it’s Nice because you dont have to do premed and can enter umiversity when you’re 17 like it happened to me :)

I am one of those that got into med school with a low undergrad GPA but I spent 2 years gap year before applying to PostBaccs and got into medical school after the PostBacc Definitely not the best route taken I was so focused on having the most colorful resume that I spread myself too thin and did poor in my actual classes There is definitely a balance

That, "following bad advice" is sooooo real! I have no idea why so many undergrad schools have PhD advisors who have never taken the MCAT, never applied to medical school, and really has no idea brI served on a medical school admissions committee, and was horrified by some of the advice these premed advisors give ie "med school's don't want to know about your EC's that's not related to medicine" Quite literally sabotaging applicants Please make sure you find a good advisor, someone who's been through and knows the process well
