the problem i found was that in that document they say that they will launch some official crypto issued by RBI which is creating ambiguity since they mentioned that their target is to stop terror funding, i was wondering that most popular crypto is still bitcoin and i am also aware that its used on dark web as well so doesn't this mean that despite being public, it might still fall under government's ban blanket i am holding my crypto stake which consists of public cryptos mostly except for hbar(idk if its public) in hopes that even if they go ahead and ban the cryptos, they will give some buffer to square off your positions

@ Akshar Looking at the government data from 2019, Private cryptocurrencies are all those cryptos that arent sovereign, that is, even BTC and ETH are private brPlease read the bill draft , it says "Prohibiting all provate crypto except those supporting blockchain Tech" So, they may add BTC,ETH as exceptions but according to govt, BTC and ETH are private

What you're saying is right, but the govt can make their own definitions for purpose of legislation even if they are technically incorrect (eg the word 'secular' in Indian constitution is interpreted slightly differently than its actual meaning) Some documents show that they apparently define any cryptocurrency not issued by a sovereign as "private" cryptocurrency Therefore, there needs to be more clarity on this confusing issue

Akshat, While you are technically right, the GoI interpretation of public vs private does seem to be what the "Twitter gurus" were telling you - anything non sovereign is considered private for the purposes of the Draft Bill Anyway, even if that is not the case, I am not sure how you are so confident that the Govt's version of the Bill lines up with the technical understanding of private vs public blockchains Till clarity on this emerges, caution should be the way forward and that's what influencers should advise their followers, in my humble opinion

In principle this is correct However, why did they also state that there would be only a few exceptions? It seemed as though whoever wrote that bill meant that a majority of the cryptos will be banned If the truly 'private' cryptos are the only ones the govt are after due to the lack of transparency, why leave exceptions? I would respectfully disagree, you are assuming the govt's interpretation of the word "private" No official government source/channel has specified the clear interpretation of the word "private", until that's done, we sould all be super cautious in entering cryptobrbrAlso it would be better not to refer the draft for drawing any conclusions, it would have gone numerous revisions, which no one knows, until it’s tabled in the winter season
