In reality you probably tried to hard to get into Stanford by overstating your achievements in every area possible Your application was literally incredible and Stanford cannot afford to sort through such applications that demand so much more attention than the average application

Probably a big shock to get negged by Stanford when you're stacked like Joy I don't know if this is the way admissions works, but if you're going to apply as 'the perfect' student, every little miscalculation will factor in negatively, because you're claiming to be what Stanford wants, a perfect student, and so and so did the application better I remember being very strong in humanities and non-existent in math and science, when I transferred to Harvard I didn't like Dartmouth And It turned out I didn't like Harvard, either But I WAS different That was probably what helped me Didn't need jokes or an 'insight' to BE different You know? I didn't like elite school faculty or students, from a very early age, when I was a cashier at a Dartmouth Med School cafeteria So I knew a few things about elite schools from reading the student newspaper, that helped me decide to avoid people socially in the upper middle class, like that the STD percentages at elite schools were very high And Situation was kinda bad, because I wanted a solid place to learn, but disliked elite school people And yet I did well traveling, meeting people, frequenting businesses and getting to know staff, and even doing recreational drugs in the inner city If you're a Chinese girl and you want to show how quirky you are with a 40 and 1600 SATs, you're going to make a fool of yourself

Joy, if it's any consolation, your life journey is long so regardless of what school you go to, it'll be only a small portion of your life and in some ways not as important as you think I went to University of Maryland but in the course of my career ended up working at the State Department with people all around me from ivy league schools Good luck with your academic pursuits and enjoy the journey!

Honestly,my son rejected from Stanford in 2018He graduated from MIT 6 months ago in Mathematics and Computer Science (applied early action and 100 scholarship) and now pursuing master degree in Computer Science( 100 Scholarship from Gates Millennium Foundation)Good luck for future applicants God Bless!

Joy, when I was applying to college the people who were well prepared were already interviewing in the summer You hadn't even applied They take a better look at a person if you are early You put yourself in a position to compete at the last minute with a bunch of highly qualified people who were also somewhat late You made life tougher on yourself
