To explain this slightly differently:brZhang proved that, given a ruler 70 million units long, however high you go in the natural numbers, there will always be a pair of primes AFTER that, that fit on the rulerbr(And the Polymath Project's goal was to shrink the ruler, which is now 246 units long)

If we don't prove the twin prime conjecture before the universe, than in might me safe to assume Infinity is a finite number, we just can't compute So to say there are infinitely many twin primes would mean there's a certain large number of twin primes that is (large enough)

Congratulations on winning the Fields medal James I admire these humans so much I went to Oxford read Zoology from 1989 - 1992, I got an upper class second degree Also got a boxing blue for boxing against Cambridge on March 12th 1992 I arrived at Oxford as a bright boy with serious memory capability and a thirst for competition in tests I very quickly observed around me a level of student that I could only marvel at A healthy reset of expectations The very best of my peers were like James in the way that their ability was to them normality and like a frequency hum in their background No frills; no interest in recognition They were simply unbelievable in their fields

I learned that the twin prime conjecture states that there are infinitely many primes numbers with a gap of 2 While this is unproven, it has been proven with the help of the results of yitang chang and james maynard that there is at least one gap <246 (or something like that), which occurs infinitely many times

No one can prove that there's a square root of a negative number, it has no basis in known logic It's an acceptable fact based on the areas it opens up mathematically Why isn't the Riemann Hypothesis treated in the same manner? Why are vigorous proofs required when "the vibe is right"?
