Love this idea joey! So simple but very effective! You gotta love the natural sunlight coming threw into the piranha tank Looking forward to your future projects😊 Comment from : Kings Aquariums And Ant World |
Darn really don't mean to be negative, but that seems like a lot of wasted water is there something that could be done? maybe an outdoor pool full of algae that'll almost completely eliminate nitrates and stuff? is this even possible? Comment from : jhon Brito |
Joey, sending love from south africa, I just want to say you are a legend Comment from : Herman Vorster |
Adjust pure genius🙏🏾 Comment from : Island Aquatics 🏝️ |

Genius! Once again thanks for the cheap ideas homie Comment from : fresh prince of aquariums |
you just bite the bullet and invest in a large sump and tie them in together, however you would also need to invest in a good quarantine system as it gets expensive treating such a volume of water Comment from : Richard |
Watching the video to the end, you answered my question but I will post it in case others have considered the same What is the source of the fresh water - is it well or city? I ask because of the potential for the accumulation of chlorine or chloramine I'm sure you have considered this Thanks - greetings from Rapid City, South Dakota Comment from : coribellanoche |
Before you set up all your small tanks you should make them a part of the automatic water changing system because you know down the road that’s what you’ll be doing Comment from : jim oneill |
Always innovative with useful 'tricks & systems' Looking forward to you speaking at the Sacramento Aquarium Society's FINDIG on June 4th 2023--and meeting you as well We are looking forward to this event Comment from : Turritopsis dohrnii |
Love this system I have a similar system set for my 100 gallon Only problem was the battery in my water control box failed after 3 years I now replace the battery every year 😊 Comment from : Pattis Aqua Worlds |
Tying the 700 into anything will likely just spread the snails Comment from : Sean S-S |
Brilliant system joey and loving the whole tanks as well, I’ve been watching you since day one and been inspired with everything you have done over the years 👍🏻🫶🏻, but what about your ph etcdon’t you need to add conditioner to the water or any chemicals to help with the condition of the water? Comment from : YO SULLY 79 |

Ok, I really like this system The water mixing and diminishing returns was why I never did a drop system, but this I will be experimenting with! Comment from : OregonOutdoorsChris |
If you had the same summ filter for all of your aquarium, what if one of your fish got sick, like white spots or fin rotted, or some other Ill that can infected all the fish in the same tank? Comment from : HydraArdhy |
Are you on a well or domestic water if on domestic water what do you do about chlorine and the other stuff in your water Comment from : Bearclaw772 |

Brilliant Comment from : Adkgal Adkgal |
Snails pack your bags More tanks to explore! Comment from : David |
I somewhat worry about connecting all of the tanks, just because if a disease ever gets in one tank, the whole system will have it Comment from : Steve W |
Omg! Actual fish? Comment from : meltz |
have you considered how much your well can take? 20 galllons at a time, all the time might tax your water in the summer or long term do you have any gear to monitor the level of your well? maybe its just the same volume you were originally doing brbras for uses, you could pump it out to your lawn, although you might not want to exchange time doing water changes to mowingbralternatively you could pump it out to a garden or a green house if T has a green thumb Comment from : Nogrim Stoneson |
Is your redtail ok? For the moment of time you have had it it doesn’t have seemed to have grow much if any! Comment from : Simply4Aquatics |
Sounds good What's your single point of failure? Comment from : Jim Cooper |
I love how you say, I only have to drill the 700 A small tank with water in it sure You break that panel, well, you will cry Comment from : Jamie dobie |
All those plants in your 700 would benefit from being tired in even if all it gets is waste water Those plants are the best filter you can have Comment from : S |
Overflow pipe on the outside will froze in winter and it's gona be disaster Comment from : Mersii |
What’s the in line carbon filter for on a well? Comment from : dalylers 1996 |

Brilliant Comment from : llNecroticll |
If you was to add all 3 tanks together and only use the one sump that's set up would it be enough ?? 🤯🤯🤔 Comment from : Steven Jones |
Didn't know you had the Super Rare Anubias Fish in with the Frontosa Joe 😅😂 (love their swim pattern) Comment from : The Scouse Scaper |
Oh god just please dont have an issue in 1 tank that can spread to all the other fish, disease or somethimg, but yes, very awesome way of simplifying maintenance Comment from : Tina Jones |
Instead of drilling the 700, why not a hang on the back overflow? Comment from : Leendert De Cae |
Absolutely love the simplicity of this Question, is there a way to configure something like this onto a salt water tank obviously with the added issue of Ro and salt Comment from : Matt Green |
What about any disease/ parasite outbreaks? Surely if you are connecting all the tanks together, an outbreak in one will spread to all of the tanks and threaten all the stock rather than just one tank’s inhabitants Comment from : Vinyl Beans |
I have a very similar setup for my 120g planted tank I open up a solenoid valve for my RO unit for certain amount of time each day Only challenge has been remineralizing the water The low solubility make it challenging to use a dosing pump even though I have magnetic stirrers in my dosing containers Haven't found a way to automate dry dosing of chemicals But automated water changes save me so much time, I could never go back Comment from : Julius Odian |
I love it Comment from : Steven Pavan |
my concern would be cross contamination You will end up treating 3300 gal at once for any breakouts Comment from : William Winters |
Will the sprinkler system reset when u lose power? Comment from : Fruit Dealer |
Once I get back in a home of my own and setup my aquariums again; I’ve always wanted a w/c system brbrI’ve watched your videos with the drip system and appreciate this video Really got me eager and willing to try it out Fired Up!!! Comment from : Slim Tim |
If all tanks are on same system how do you stop a disease from spreading to all tanks? I love idea but I'm curious Comment from : biggbird kush |
Don't think I've ever seen piranhas look so good Comment from : R Lam |
Guide the wateroutcome to the Pond or to a tree or Something that can still use the waterbrThat would be so awsome Comment from : gerritb |
Love the vid Joey! Comment from : Ryk |
@The king of DIY @Joey, you should move that fresh water supply hose away from the drain hole of the 2000g so you get better dilution I would run the hose to enter the 2000g at the same place you have your water return in from the filter sump Just my 2 cents Comment from : Oui_OFC |
Take your "dirty" fish water and bottle it as a garden additive; my aquarium water all goes to gardens and trees Comment from : Nathan Clarke |
Don't forget some kind of filter over the overflow pipe outside, you dont want spiders, ants or other bugs in the sump Great setup though Comment from : Beer Monsta |
I have very similar, it's great and no work Every few months you'll have to do a big water change just to make sure that the nitrates don't slowly creep up but that's it Comment from : Tomas Wall |
now this was a nice episode :D Comment from : Jim Oldenkotte |
That Arowana 😢😢😢😢 Love you Joey Keep grinding and sharing the journey Comment from : Gabe Lawrence |
Aren't you worried at all that the handle on your Canadian Tire pale and the clamps on your hoses rusting? wont that effect your water quality? Genuinely curious Comment from : Evan Sovdi |
You Should drill a hole in the back ground and put the hose that adds new water into the hole so it pushes it into the display away from the drain behind the back ground Comment from : Wade Visser |
Just more proof you don't need water declaration additives Comment from : Aaron Powell |
I run one on my 1500 gal that adds in 5 gal/hr on a 24/7 basis I use a three stage systems for the water that is added in It saves me tons of time and I'll do a 50 swap every 4 momths just to give them great quality environment Comment from : Phil Cavallini |
That is exactly what i do with my discus tank, except it is connected to R/O water Smart plug on the R/O runs a program that sends in fresh water 2 times a day brNo water change ever needed, this is THE best way to do it imo Comment from : andre p |
That auto watering has a screen That rusting out could be a point of failure Great idea thou I might do this on my 150 Comment from : Shawn Boyle |
How will water temps be in winter? Might need an inline heater Comment from : Mr DJR |
For the Algo Comment from : Kevon Kipps |
Could you test the fresh 20 gallons with some kind of marker or dye that wouldn't hurt the fish? Comment from : Nelson Smith |
I do the same thing on my 500g I love the ease of the setup I used sprinkler valves that i can control with my phone for adding water Comment from : Eric |
Nice video buddy Comment from : EVERYTHING GUY |
First off those Oscar’s are Gorgeous! Huge Oscar fan and that is a really cool idea and with the water coming in cold it will sink being a little more dense than the warmer water around it! Love it! Comment from : Nick Wiseman |

I have a question I have heard that fish will start to spawn or start acting like they are spawning after a rain storm So does your automatic water change system simulate a rain storm by adding fresh cooler water like it would from a rain storm Thanks for info and have a great day Comment from : Shrek Donkey |
