My ficus bonsai wasn't trimmed or groomed properly for years It also had bugs which were undetected for about a year brbrI have very long branches with very few leaves, just a few on the ends and pretty much 0 buds forming closer to the trunk brbrAny advice on 'stimulating' the tree to have more buds closer to the trunk? The branches basically look 'dead', except for a couple of leaves on the ends I can redirect some of the branches and cut a few to get a better shape, but it'll be basically a skeleton still Or should the process of cutting it back and repotting be enough to stimulate growth and I should trust the process? Comment from : @lauriedepaurie |
Great transformationI am new to the bonsai game and constantly looking for new knowledge and most of all inspiration, many of you guys are great at the step by steps and not super articulate which makes it alot easier for us newbies to learn brThank you for posting this Comment from : @johnmccauley101 |

What I always find so wonderful is how less is more - by cutting off a large branch and wiring and shaping the remaining branches, the tree looks so much fuller Comment from : @NYBraveheart |
I do have a 25 yo ficus, but when it gets moved / turned, brthe foliage will try to go back to follow the sunlight, brto the point they can't and they will drop off or get folded in half brhow will foliage survive this wiring, if parts of it are forced away brfrom their original angle of sunlight ? Comment from : @gitmoholliday5764 |

That is beautiful That comes from your heart For me symmetry is important I would have probably arranged the branches in the form of a domestic fan wheel It can be clockwise or anticlockwise or diagonal, etc It just depends what is going on in my imagination To be creative you must have a good imagination You obviously have both imagination and experience Comment from : @Knight-of-Christ |
You`re goodo in this joba! Comment from : @juanhierbabuena |
Wow, I didn’t expect this change at the end , I bought a ficus bonsai just a week ago, the seller put it in a good size pot without holes and he told me to water it once a week a half litter, but I noticed it’s leafs begin to falling 3 days ago, it is in my living room and there is enough sunlight to reach it but I putted it 2 days ago near the window so it’s gets more sunlight It’s small right now so I’m looking forward to try out your method once it’s get taller branches 😊 Comment from : @redshotred6755 |
