I very much like the idea using chicken labor in the garden, but did you find any additional benefits for the soil in chickens scratching it and pooping in situ vs bringing some chicken compost from their permanent run and covering it with paper/cardboard before mulching? Because it is definitely faster/easier to do the latter than commandeering them to do what needs to be done Comment from : Big Al1 |

When you talked about calling your chickens and they came to you, I thought of my own little chicken call They see me coming with scraps and water containers I didn’t realize that I had taught them that when Mom calls that means treats and food I look at them as I walk to their run area They just kinda look at me a little But, when I start talking to them they get all excited and follow me all along their chicken run I talk to them like babies They love it! And, of course, so do I They’re my kids Comment from : C F |

Been following your videos for a month or so now I am so inspired by your Garden of Eden! Thank you for sharing and adding value to others James! It's apparent you have been blessed with harvests of abundance and with knowledge I have also been "infected" by permiculture (as Geoff Lawton often says) and am currently taking his online course (intro) I'm not so fortunate to own land up here on the West Coast of Canada (majorly inflated land prices), so I watch your videos for that application experience ;) Keep 'em coming! U are so intelligent your chickens are so nice to have around but I don't want to pick up after their droppings My sister picks them up every day, and compost them in one side of the fence, and next year, she planted on that side and started compost the other side also, all the grass clippings had seed that got cured from the chicken's manure and best for the garden she also lives in NC I don't have fence like her bec of the covernance she had cucumber running up the trailist about 10 to 20 pounds a day or every couple days yeah, very intricate living between cows and chickens I just think of the vet involves that causes me a headache but yeah, very nice work, i mean permaculture Comment from : Veronica Be |
