Could anyone be so kind to explain to me, why there are plastic sheets placed underneath the stony foundation layer of the pond? By usind those sheets isn't it the same as a sealed concrete surface? Or is the plastic layer able to let some water pass to soak into the ground?

If you are going to have trees around a pond, would evergreens be preferrable so you don't have the leaf drop into the water? Also, would some tall-ish grasses help block leaves before they blow unto the pond?

Hell of a pond yes !! Impressive, i CAN'T WAIT for the update ! I clicked on this video looking for inspiration for my future (much smaller) pond, the tips about the leaves were really helpful since I plan, indeed, to build it under trees but see cleaning the leaves pretty much as a meditative practice hoping I stick to this perspective once the pond exists hehehehe

Excellent job, Joel👍 The old pond did need a bit of TLC but you and your crew did a fantastic job at rejuvenating and re-scaping it I can't wait to see what the end result will be in the spring/summer when all those wildflowers are in bloom and wildlife starts using this awesome oasis (with or without the chickens😋) Really enjoyed the video as it really showcases how much work is needed to create a project of that size and the benefit of planning for a minimal maintenance approach and self-sustaining pond👌💕 Have a great week!!
