Movie makers don't seem to understand that the success of the original is based on its being a fresh new concept By definition a sequel lacks that Moreover, in their haste to churn out another money-maker, the quality of the plot & writing suffer There were lots of previous movies which kept the same characters (Nick & Nora Charles, the original Sherlock Holmes series with Basil Rathbone for example) but these were episodic with character development, good writing and involving stories

I agree that most of these were pretty dismal But I really enjoyed “Alice Through the Looking Glass”, and “The Secrets of Dumbldore”, and I liked “Dark Phoenix” Not as much as some of the other X-Men films, but it was ok 👌 And “Evan Almighty” was ok as well
