thanx for the tutorial, I have an aloe about 2-3 yrs old it's kind of lg I transplanted it when it got too big for the original pot after seeing this, that might've been a mistake it's really top heavy so i put some broken plastic hangers in to support it the bottom leaves are looking bad i didn't know i could leave it for a while and it wouldn't die it really needs some tlc now, because I've done a lot of neglecting except for watering I feel like a bad plant momma now 😮💨🤥😔 Comment from : Viki Macht |

This was the most helpful video I’ve watched I actually couldn’t watch most of the others all the way through, and none of them addressed the overgrown monster plants I’m dealing with Thank you! I was worried I’d killed part of it by cutting it off without roots but it was exactly what you did, so I’m hopeful it will all work out! Comment from : Jo Lea |

Thanks for posting your ‘how to’ I’m a little nervous as I just separated 3 large pots of 10 year old Blue Elf Aloe Veras They’re like old friendsHope they survive I brought a few with me that came from 10 year old plants I’d been growing in the ground I potted a few to move from the Phoenix’ desert to temperate forest in NE Blue ridge area They’ve been prolific houseplants for a decade now I didn’ know that I’d been propagating/treating them in the garden/yard very similarly to how you do in your video I had so many growing in the ground I couldn’t keep up I’d throw cuttings and pups under my giant Bougainvilleas until I could get to them! Lol I was always amazed at how well they survived and reproduced with such great neglect! Anyway, back to the pots They were pretty narly The pups are beyond fingerlings size! I got 3 huge multi leaf cuttings from the mother plants; 2 huge w/ roots; 15 med-large w/ roots; 5 small (8” tall) w/roots I don’t recommend waiting this long to divide! I use each of your methods… I had 6 plants growing from one pot, my original aloe was 4 years old and when I tried separating them all I believe there was a lot of root rot but the plants were all thriving so I just did my best, hoping to not lose it😅 Comment from : Serina Bartle |

I saw this video like a week ago and said to myself “no I don’t wanna risk my Original Aloe vera (5-6 y/o) It seems fine despite hanging over the pot” brbrNow tho… I haven’t checked them thoroughly for some time but I noticed my pups in the pots behind the big Aloe had pests!! So I checked the big one and I did not see any but I felt that they had been there chewing somebrbrI decided to remove the smaller plants that the big Aloe vera was leaning on and now I’ve fixed something temporary for it But I’ve decided it’s probably time to fix this now brbrI’m so afraid right now! I Don’t Want To Lose my plants I hate pests and I don’t want them spreading even more, but they’re my babies, I should try and save them But I’ll probably not succeed anywaybrbrHopefully the big one doesn’t get targeted now because of the repotting I don’t want Florida to die 🥹 Comment from : Moon_Wolf K |

I just split a huge aloe that had been squished in an 8" pot for who knows how long There were 13 plants in there I managed to get most of them out with roots - should I keep the roots and re-pot, or cut them off clean? The mother plant has a pretty hefty root ball Comment from : skathica |
|
Thank you so much for helping me repot an aloe I purchased at a Farmer's Market I live in an apartment and have my plant sitting on the window sill and she started trying to get out of her pot and has 2 babies Most videos I find are for repotting one's plants outside in their garden and neglect city apartment dwellers who love plants Your video was easy to understand, I enjoyed your sense of humor (mixing soils to feel smart) and common sense (started rotting and took them out of the water) This is the most helpful video and I thank you so much! 💞🪴 Comment from : Mags |

Can you save the stem? I’m currently trying to save the stem after it had a bit of rot further up I did not peel anything off of the stem before repotting it, but I did snip off the rotting areas I let the top part of the stem sit above the soil line I haven’t watered it yet It’s been 3 days Did I screw it up? Lol Comment from : Kay |

|
Wow thank you for this video! I just moved into a new place and the previous owner left a potted aloe that looked like it was on its last leg! It was so neglected I cut all the pups from the thick dry stems, not really knowing if I was doing the right thing, and removed everything that looked dead I left them to callous and, thanks to your vid, I’ll repot them tomorrow! Thank you! B Comment from : Miriam Mondragon |
|
This was so incredibly helpful! Thank you so much! I have a monster aloe vera I've wanted to split up but I was afraid I would do something wrong This was SO easy to follow and so informative that I was able to immediately report three of the pups - and I'm looking forward to doing the rest, including the airing out part when I have more time This was also perfect timing because I wanted to repot one of the pups as a birthday gift, and this made it so simple to do! Comment from : sunstripe85 |

|
When you repot, with roots, do they need more water until they 'take hold' or do you keep the new pots fairly dry? Thanks!! Comment from : Leasa Justleasa |

Dude! This video saved me (and my aloe vera plant named "Professor Prickles")brbrI was tearing my brain out trying to force myself to get through other aloe vera repotting videos (they're so bad!), but your video is so incredibly well presented and properly technical (in the way I appreciate the most) Comment from : IAm TheBlurr |
|
Yes! Thank you! This answered all the questions! Great job Btw, I tried the "water propagation" technique and it totally worked My aloe hasn't been watered in FOREVER The leaves we're starting to thin out, so I figured I'd give it a try before repotting Wah-lah, plump leaves! Ready for the dirt!!! Comment from : Jessica Yankee |
