That uncaught error was not an error, it was a violation Comment from : @condor07usa |
You might make more money in the USA, but the cost of living is way higher You are almost guaranteed to need your own car, unless you live in a big city The cost of housing or rent is way higher in the USA in cities compared to European cities And there is no universal healthcare, and health insurance companies nickle and dime you at every opportunity Plus, taxes are not automatically deducted from your monthly pay, so you have to set aside money and time to deal with thatbrbrWith the lack of a social security system and worse infrastructure, it would be ridiculous if American engineers did not make more money than their European counterparts to offset that And even with increased salary, the tradeoff of worse quality of life and higher chances to go broke because you suffered an accident that your insurance will not cover is just not worth it, both financially and from a mental/emotional health standpoint Comment from : @bunnysupreme74 |
a lot of this advice is always too US-focused in Europe the answer is simple (once you've got all the required skills down): DON'T work on a fixed salaried contract Work as an independent short term contractor You will make about 25x as much per hour This makes you bypass a lot of European countries' overly stringent labor protection laws that you don't need as an experienced software dev Work is plentiful, work is easy to get You don't need protection on the level of a tenured professor to survive Just learn how to find contracts (you can always do so through recruiters if you're really at a loss but it's an easy skill to learn otherwise) and you'll never want for high paying work again And the extra administration work is not a big deal and CAN easily be delegated to an accountant if you want to Comment from : @LCTesla |

honestly i fucking hate this video like it is exceptionally easy to learn to program, why not give fake advice? find someone senior in literally any field who has a programming problem to solve they claim is hard or will take a long time to solve solve the problem they will give you more problems solve those eventually, they will be forced to pay you congrats, you now have a job in tech you don't need to be fancy about it just start solving problems for people, and eventually you'll have that as your job is it something you will enjoy? hell no Comment from : @garythepencil |
