Why do we need to congruent baseline for a story? We were told to build concept upon concepts, for what? Ideally, it should serve as a guide as you go through your story It should serve you, not you ending as a servant to it The stakes are higher if you seek to publish your story codependently Still, step back and remember, as you have possibly been a reader too, you felt joy reading The same joy you initially had as you wrote It would feel like a job the more serious you get about it Hours spent with nothing much to show but more to work on Still, continue Pursue for more Let the raw ideas flow You can always get back to it for improvement What you can't do is lose the desire to write Love the innate version of your writing That way it could go on I did this as a challenge for myself but sounds more like a letter for me

Just write your world using a dissecation of the Hundred Acre Wood: what is this place, what does it look like and who lives there? Making a map with the locations that are important to the story may help a lot I mean, almost all Winnie the Pooh books feature, not only the common illustrations, but also map drawings of that place, like the characters' houses Thank you A A Milne, for giving us a tale as simple and lovable as time

When it comes to my half-dystopian supernatural world, it was designed for multiple different storiesbrbrWhich is very convinient for me as I can stick to the same rules while exploring and adding things that couldnt be seen by other stories! brbrBut that means that some ocs of mine have the chance to meet the ocs that I never imagined they could lmao- br(Given the place, time and situation spesifically)brbrAnd Ive now got to the habit of my brain automatically finding ways for new characters and lore to connect to my world somehow haha!brbr(But if that character and lore doesnt make sense to be in the same universe, I typically make it a fiction within fiction Like as a fictional movie, show, book, comic or any related media within my world)

When I was 11 I had this world invented solely for me and my friends to do a roleplay game inbrAnd now I’ve got two binders of art and worldbuilding, a lot of lore and complicated magic, 3 printed manuscripts of past copies of books, a 3 unfinished drafts of books, and a just under 400 page and 100,000 word book I’m halfway through editing the second draft of for that world brAnd I’m not stopping any time soon

Look at God of War 2018 A game set in the Norse mythology, it would’ve been easy for them to write a story and get straight to Odin, Thor Loki etc instead they stripped it down to a father and son wanting to spread the ashes of their beloved wife/ mother From that simple story they can interweave some things but never stray from the core goal

I think building a fictional world could be a piece of cake for people who have enjoyed comic books and cartoons and have read fantasy novels and watched fantasy based TV shows and ENJOY WRITING The real challenge comes in how you lay it out on paper or digital print and make your writing stand out and create that appeal after countless edits, fixing of plot holes, improving character arcs, cohesion, pacing and so many other aspects Obviously you’d need an editor (both developmental and copyrighter), however most people neglect these aspects and publish their work without thinking about the impression it’ll make in the mind of their readers
