Thanks! I'm currently in the "calm down and wait" phase It just started sprinkling as I finished my last coat I was going to sand it down and start over, but I'll give this a try tomorrow

You were clear coating over visible damage that needed to be filled You either left some steps out of the video or youshowed a different finish product! Top coat and clear coat DOES NOT fill scratches or chips or gouges!brSomething smelly going on here

I tried this this morning over a botched (bubbly) paint job on a ceiling fan and the paint started to crack all over! What did I do wrong??? It was krylon white gloss paint and primer combo

Soooo basically sand it down and start over? And I can see all the dimples and rough edges from your 'non close up' towards end You have to start over and buff those edges ALL the way down in beginning

Plenty of good tips to be sure but the finish still shows the original damage to the paint finish You can see at around 7:15 through 7:20 mins or so that the original mess hasn't been removed by scotchbrite rubs Even at 8:50 mins you can still see the undulations and damage Such is the the ability to stop YouTube videos frame by frame Did you re-sand and repaint the whole item to get to the finished result in the last bits of the video because as far as I've seen on lots of similar posts on the same topic you have to lightly sand until you get a completely smooth finish without any obvious distortions? I can't figure how clear coats would cover up the original mess without sanding back properly There seem to be lots of advocates of scotchbrite pads but proper sandpaper is the the go as far as I'm concerned especially fixing errors like splatter, fish eye and orange peel Just saying I'm no expert

Main thing is patience, you have to make sure the paint is completely dry before you sand

Great advice, especially to take a breath and stop trying to fix it Had a big glob of paint on the car mirror I was painting First time rattle can painting so I was flipped out Watched this video, let the paint dry, sanded off the glob and applied a couple more coats of paint You can't even tell I made a mistake Thanks for the video

I saved this video just in case so I could comment after following advice I must say, it sure did pull me out of my procrastinating on a project that I kept taking 2 steps forward and 2 steps back again 🤦‍♂️ It has been frustrating, but I listened and took your advice and now my project is sanded down and painted, currently in the sun curing It came out pretty well Thank you so much for making this video 👍

That did NOT look very Good I think you needed way more surface sand prep Maybe that paint is crap also I been having issues with Rustoleumn spray bombs It doesnt spray very well unlike it used to Years ago, Nice Video but sure was Blotchy I would of resanded

thank you , man its hard to , let it dry , before hitting it with clear coat , and I had a whole side panel that the paint wrinkles , lot of sanding , but learned my lesson , gave it a day between and the clear coat 1k style doesn't freak the pain out , and I let that have a couple of days before I hit it with a 5000 wet sand , much better finish ,

Hey used your technique somewhat to fix some cracks and wrinkles on my bike frame I didn’t have a green scotch brite pad but I did have 600 and 800 grit sandpaper The buffing after that first layer of both paint and again after clear coat were the key Thanks again, very helpful

It takes me weeks to get a good, smooth finish on my restorations I live in Florida, and I can only paint between October and March Otherwise, the humidity is above 75, and that makes shaker can painting impossible if you care about the finish
