It kind of surprises me that you are the first YouTube coin ring maker that I’ve seen who uses a mini lathe! I’m new to the coin ring hobby, but I’ve had a mini lathe and mill for a year and a half I’ve used both of them for making tooling for various coin hobby tasks, and feel like they’re a good addition to the arsenal, but not absolutely needed! Prospective buyers should do a little homework before purchasing one though! Lots of traps to look out for, and things that look like a good deal that aren’t! This was a great video! Thanks for posting it!

Not sure if this has already been said but, if you don’t have a lathe, jewelry suppliers carry bezel forming blocks with 17 degree cone slots in a range of sizes and it comes with a 17 degree matching punch I got mine from Otto Frei and it’s handy for dimes and other small coin rings just like this

I've done the old hammer the edge method on pennies, they was around a size 4 or 5 I think, its just crazy when you can make miniatures!

If you're going to anneal the coin anyway you could of just heated it up to the melting point of the solder instead of filing it off

I'm no expert, but I believe you need to hold 18 or 24 karat gold at 1300* F for 10 minutes to anneal A partial anneal is better than nothing, and you are getting some ductility, but not as much as you could be (Re: Hoover and Strong web site) technical-articleshooverandstrongcom/wordpress/important-information-about-working-with-gold/
