Pinned comment to address Buddy heater safety and Propex fittings comments/questions:brbrBuddy heater safety: I've had quite a few people incorrectly commenting on here that Buddy heaters are catalytic heaters, so don't/can't produce CO That is false for two reasons The first is that Buddy heaters are NOT catalytic heaters The second reason is that catalytic heaters can still produce CO It's an incredibly common misconception that catalytic heaters can't/don't produce CO, but the catalyst doesn't actually change the chemical reaction at all You have all of the same byproducts The difference a catalyst makes is that it makes the reaction a lot more efficient There is less propane used, therefore less oxygen used, and a much lower chance of CO being produced That being said, the chances of CO problems with either are incredibly slim with adequate ventilation The fire risk is more likely to cause issues!brbrPropex fittings: The Propex comes with a male 1/4" BSP fitting, which doesn't play well with the American NPT propane fittings I went to my local plumbing supply store and they found what I needed I had xB4R7x suggest the following fitting from McMaster Carr (a great store that I've ordered from multiple times) and adapter for a 3/8" regulator hose:brBSP adapter: wwwmcmastercom/1786N204/ br3/8 flare adapter: amznto/2LAnmxD

Wood burning stove in a hot tent🤷🏼‍♂️ You don’t have to have a big wall tent anymore to run a stove Companies like Kifaru, Seek Outside, and Lite Outdoors make some nice solo shelters that can run ultralight backpackable wood stoves

Austin Worsnop
Of course the one he likes most is the one that’s $1400

Ken Haynie
I'm curious, if you could recommend something for a specific use I'm putting a stand-up tent in my backyard In the tent I'm keeping my home gyms and weights and a table to set my phone and a speaker, so I can listen to music while working out The reason I'm doing this is, my wife and I have a very small house and she is disabled, sou hate waking her up in the morning when I get home from work I need to heat this tent during the time when I'm going to workout and I live in the high desert of southern California In the summer it won't be so cold, but in the winter I'm going to need to heat the tent quite a bit and quickly I have access to power, so that isn't an issue I was curious about what you might suggest?
Comment from : Ken Haynie

Will Leroy
In the end, diesel heaters win out because they are more efficient You left out bio-diesel and odorless A drum of diesel will last a lot longer, much longer than propane Diesel is not as explosive or will it kill you should the pressurized fuel escape Yes, it stinks but just try to find a propane sales outlet The propane Buddy heater could suffocate a whole family Hardly ever happens but when it does,,, Beyond the guilt, there is only death
Comment from : Will Leroy

Iffykid Mn

Matthew
Quick piece of advice; if you're worried about something tipping over in a tent that's hot set it on a welders blanket You can get them in multiple sizes and it won't transfer heat from a falling stove/heater A baking sheet isn't going to actually provide much protection, they're just too thin and the materials, though fireproof perhaps, are not heat resistant
Comment from : Matthew

What type of regulator and hose are you using to connect the Propex to your propane tank? The Propex dealer said I’d need a duel stage and needs to be between 11-13 inches of water column Any help is appreciated!
