I think the new iron texture is easy to overlook, It does not really stand out in comparisson to the other ore blocks It seems they might have wanted to make it harder to come by, from my experience playing the snapshot I was realy struggling to find iron exposed above the deepslate layer Comment from : @Nimoes_archive

The tuff around the amethyst geodes was changed to smooth basalt because in real life geodes are normally encased in basalt, they just can't use normal basalt because of the top texture, hence why the smooth version was madebrbrAnother thing is deepslate is based on slate (shocker) which in real life is kinda like a bunch of thin plates stacked on top of each other which is why it's top and bottom texture is different from the sides Comment from : @inputoutput2938
