Well the term is official, as Steam has a category for them now I'm 48 and my dad's 73(4?); I wonder how my dad would do playing these He did beat SotN and G'nG for SNES and Genesis, loves Gran Turismo, 1942 and 1943, and arcade Donkey Kong back in the day, somaybe he'd learn the FPS? Now he only plays GT7

boomer shooters are actually pretty damn boring, theres a reason they only sell in niche nerd communities, like ultrakill and all the greasy groomers that love that shit most are pretty damn boring and don't have anything interesting to show, usually some generic shitty music and basic levels, id say dusk was pretty good but only deathmatch was fun and hrot actually pulled out enough fun gameplay with some interesting and original designs to come off as it's own thing unlike the other slop, cultic looks kinda neat "same ideas repeated over and over again" literally the entire nostalgia game scene going on now, making cheap shitty boring games that don't ever do anything unique, just offbrand versions of old games i mean shit several of these games shown look the same also theres so many more interesting doom wads you could have recommended instead of brutal dookie you know the genre isnt meant to survive when he ended it with a mod for a game from 1993 instead of another recent boomer shooter

I think you missed the point on HROT Its not a slav jank at all Its obvious homage to QUAKE 1 from aesthetics down to enemy types heck even the menus, fonts and logo screams QUAKE (i was actually suprised that its made on custom engine-not quake engine) But mainly its not janky at all its not buggy or brokenso calling it a slav jank just because it was made in czech republic and its bit drab its kinda doing a diservice to the game
