Oh man i've been looking for this I was wondering why my Mi Box S stutter for some video file using my hard-drive I thought my video file was way too big for any player to handle it Turns out the hardware itself can't handle it based on this video Thanks a lot for the comparison video man, definitely will get the Nvidia Shield in the future! Hey bro i just purchased a mi box for my LG OLED 65B6P which is 4k and for some odd reason it wont recognize it as an 4k tv when set resolutions to 'automatically use best one' it chooses 720p Also when choose 4k 30mhz or fps and i test out netflix it wont stream in 4k ?? wondering if i am doing anything wrong? I fell for the same test using USB as a source The only way the Mi can play 4K video reliably is using a 5Ghz WIFI The USB is too slow but if you route your source via DLNA over WIFI it streams properly Mi box is less than half the price of the shield but it's not half the performance which tells me the Mi is a good deal Comment from : David Deluria |

a couple of nuances you need to take in account kodi support 16 vs 17 on amlogic chip updates and fixes, your comparing a newcomer vs the defacto in android TV Decoding profiles, I don't believe the amlogic can run super high profiles, streaming services will never favor these as the consume yo much bandwidth you should do a retest with Kodi 17 and more mainstream profiles Comment from : Thijs DP |

If you played the media from USB drive, the problem could be from the USB port speed since the Mi box's USB is USB 20 I don't have problem playing 4K video from YouTube and Netflix with high speed internet Comment from : Henry Xue |

Mi box only has a USB 20 port while the Shield has USB 30 May account for some of the issues but the Shield cpu and gpu are much faster than those on the Mi box So could be multiple factors The Shield is just a higher quality device As the saying goes, you get what you pay for Comment from : Qwerty |

Are you using the Chinese MiBox 3 (pro/enhanced edition) from China or are you using the new released Xiaomi Mibox which is produced together with Google? Can you show us the info of the Mibox (name / version)?brThe older Mibox which arrived in the summer of 2014 supports 4k on 30fps, but the new one should support 4k on 60fps On both boxes, you can install Google Play with Plex, Kodi, etc Comment from : Kiswum |
