I like most how non-judgmental your advice is I always get this shorts from some finance guy and he is putting the people down that come to him for help, making them look stupid and uneducated and kinda talking over their head I come from a working class background and we have a disadvantage - not just because of financial reasons, there is so much etiquette, mannerism, the way you talk, the topics you talk about (I cant have a delightful conversation about the opera or a fancy ski trip) that you don't learn growing up and it makes you stick out I can adapt pretty well, but I never feel comfortable in these circles I did a PhD in science and my best friends were the security guards and one of the cleaners I got along with the other students, but I just couldn't talk to the professors - different worlds Comment from : @essiggurke7276 |

Here’s my tip Sometimes things go wrong, and you’re going to be late Even if you planned to be 20 minutes early, an unforeseen incident could delay you by more than that Don’t just turn up late and apologise; at minimum call ahead and explain, with an apology I may be wrong about this next bit, but my theory is that being 5-10 minutes late is just bad time management and difficult to excuse Not only that, once you realise you’re going to be 5-10 minutes late the chances are that you’ll be rushing, and hot and flustered when you arrive, and perhaps even slightly later than you initially advised them… my advice is to call ahead and say that you are going to even later than you think For example, if you think you’re going to be 10 minutes late, tell them you’re going to 20 minutes late because (for example) there’s been a traffic accident This gives you plenty of time to recover your composure, not have to rush, etc Naturally this depends on the type of role and the expected duration of the interview (which you should have asked in advance) You may even want to offer to reschedule if that’s going to be more convenient for them Comment from : @Innesb |

The first job I applied I went in without anything It was a locally owned groomer so it wasn’t that big of a deal, but I walked in and talked to her about a job Came back the next day and pretty much worked the entire day Got the job immediately Left there cause the hours sucked (10-12 hrs days washing dogs all day) Went to a place that is technically locally owned but the owner started a big clothing company and we do stuff for ppl around the country Went in put and put in my application Maybe 30 mins to an hour later I’m getting a call asking if I can come in for an interview immediately Ofc I did Got the job immediately too It helped that the co-owner’s (I think that’s what he is) is the one who recommended me to come but hey, both my first jobs were I walked in and I was hired pretty much lol still currently working at the other place Comment from : @celestialkhaos |
